Members Rushfan2112
I don't know what's been going on lately, but I've figured out that I don't really like my guitar. It might be the Les Trem that makes the high E go out of tune/break, it might be the constant Tele and Jazzmaster lust. Pretty much, I want a Telecaster because I really love the awesome Tele sound. I've played my friend's Highway 1 and I love it. I'd like to get one, but there's not one that's mid-priced ($600 +/- $100) that I've really loved, aesthetically. One that I've been looking at is the Fender 69' Thinline Tele. I'd like it a little more if it looked more like this: So, bone stock, how does a Thinline play? Sustain, sound, etc. The other guitar I've been absolutely lusting over is the Fender Jazzmaster. I know nothing about this guitar except: A.) Nels Cline uses one and B.) The bridge isn't it's best feature. I really like the look of them, but I've never played one, nor have I ever really heard one (besides Wilco). I'm downloading some Dinosaur Jr and MBV right now. I've heard it's sharp sounding, muddy and lacks sustain. What is your opinion? These guys are also expensive. How do the Japanese ones differ? Where can I get a Japanese one in the states? ------------------------------------------------------------ I currently play through a Fender Blues Junior. It's pretty good, I could keep it for a while longer, but I'd like a new amp. I'm thinking american voiced, Fendery. I'm not a big fan of Marshalls, and I'm not looking for that El84 "chime" right now. I'd like something smallish, maybe 15w? Maybe a little bit more? My big tones I like are those in between ones, you don't really know if it's clean or overdriven. That's my favorite. Trem and reverb aren't necessary, but would be welcomed greatly. What am I describing? ----------------------------------------------------------- For reference: - I have a BYOC Delay, Fuzz Face and Triboost. - My main influences are Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Ryan Adams and bands of that type. Indie and alt. country is my preferred style of music. - I plan on gigging with this equipment, with another guitarist (using an AC15 and a Fender Pro). - Clean headroom isn't the most important; I'd like that dirty clean tone I described. I'm not looking for a Twin, but I'm not looking for a Champ either. - I plan on adding (maybe) a Big Cheese clone, and (fo reals) a Tuna Melt and Verbzilla (if my amp doesn't have verb or trem) to my board. - I'll save up for something if it's that good (I'm 16 and work at Sbarro. I don't make much) but really, cheap is always good too. Thanks dudes. I know a lot of you guys are really cool and know your effects, so I'm hoping we can chat about stuff I'd can go try out. I don't want this to turn into "just play what sounds good", as I think we all know that by now. I'd just like a little direction, that's all. Rob. If only Squier made Jazzmasters and not Jagmasters. Also, I didn't mean to be rude with my last post. Maybe I'm not adjusted to most of our posters (read: spammers?) moving. Members grayeyes777
no squier's allowed!!! g and l tribute series teles (and their guitars in general) are so much better in sound and build quality imo... and they only cost $200 more than a squire. You should also look into the princeton recording amp... i've been gassing for one for a while now. they're a thousand bucks but loaded with features. Members Rushfan2112
Yeah, I've been suggested a Deluxe Reverb RI a lot on other forums, too, along with a Tweed Deluxe. This was the original amp I was looking at buying (a Mission Amps kit, actually). But Fender really doesn't make a Tweed Deluxe anymore, so I can't play them at Guitar Center/George's. I'm going to check out a local little Mom and Pop store on sunday. Hopefully they'll have some of this stuff.
