Members valvestate
Anyone here playing this kind of music? I was just wondering what distortion/ modulation effects are applicable for this type if music. I'm looking for the United/ Hillsongs dirt sound . We have a large worship concert happening in the next 2 months and I'm looking for any ideas and tips on stage.
Members bluehuricane
use a ton of chorus on clean strumming parts, and for clean picking parts, use chorus with a long delay with 3 repeats or so. for dirt, a tube screamer should fit the bill

Do you think I need to use an Acoustic Simulator ? Our church is kinda on the budget so I don't think they would provide us with another Acoustic Guitar... And an Acoustic Simulator should be avoided unless it's absolutely the only option, as it sounds like crap. Just bein' honest...

Members Vince
thanks for the run down of their gear - nice stuff!! For the OP, if you've got a big event coming up, I'd keep it simple and probably wouldn't change from what you're used to using. Less to go wrong and you know the sounds you can get. As for what fx go with worship music, I say anything goes. IMO Worship music should reflect the state of secular music in order to remain relevent so therefore I don't think that there are any standards of pedals. I would say though, that for worship stuff, you need a good clean sound and a good dirt sound that is volume controlable (not crank a plexi to 11 type of thing) so that you can fit in with the rest of the band. Maybe a volume pedal after your dirt and before your delay? Also with regards to the hillsong stuff, I have an issue with the picture of one of the boards if you follow the flickr link where he boasts about how much it all cost. I know we're all gearheads here, but if he's playing in a worship band that shouldn't be the focus. I know it's all tools to get the job done, but if I was in his position I wouldn't want to be showing off about how much all my gear cost. It just seems a bit odd to me, that's all. Members w.p.corgan
To the OP, what gear are running at the moment? How much of a drastic change do you feel you need to make to achieve the sound you're looking for? If you made changes and the rest of the band didn't, would it still sit in the mix? Members w.p.corgan
Re quoting the prices, I gotta say that he got some good prices on the pedals (considering this is Australia and all...)
Members monoverb
excuse my ignorance...but is there a typical "worship sound"?In other words.. are you trying to sound like all the other worship bands out there? moreover...is it not cool to stray too far from the flock in terms of something a little new and different?
