... And first opinions of the completed job are WOW. I don't have a lot of experience with compressors but it's a whole lot more musical than it was stock.

It has an improved sense of clarity and musicalness, hard to put my finger on but I know it'll get a lot more use now!

Only problem is now I'm tempted to get a SD-1/DS-1/BD-2 and do some more :)

... you guys aren't helping the GAS!

I do agree with what you said about the bright white LED but I must admit I'm fond of the effect! In total I think it was a very good use of about 2 hours... The only thing I wish I'd done is not try and reposition the sticker 'coz it was a TINY bit out of place... Oh well :)

helps noise . yes, some. you need to be responsible for the single coil buzz, but it will do its thing if you do yours.

it has a very unusual compression circuit, not similar to the popular analog sounds. very ambient.

Well mine is even too noisy with humbuckers.

what makes it "opto"?

It's supposed to resemble the sounds of older compresors based upon optoisolators.

I built one of Craig Anderton's early versions that used that component in the early '70's. They were hard to find back then, too.
