My new punk band needs a name. Give me your best that you won't be using.

Stalin

Seriously, it's perfect.

1) It's political, which seems to be something you're aiming for.

2) It's a cool word. Catchy.

3) Lots of free imagery, as the majority of his images from his reign are old enough to have passed into the public domain (copyright wise)

4) It's typographically interesting. Words starting with 'St' look good in a million different typfaces, and the 'lin' is a good balanced ending to a logo. (Sorry, former life as a designer coming back to haunt me)

No need to pay postage to Aus. for all the bounty, just send the one-spot to me once you've run the name by the bassist ;)

Hmm... let's go stream of consciousness:

Punk. Death. Dying. Decay...

How about: Decay?

Could go as the Decay or theDecay... I kinda like that. You cold play with "the" ... could be "the" or sound like "thee".

Maybe, October ... lots of dying in that season. Dying season maybe? Not one word... but it could work. Octoberwish?

---

I see you went political there for a minute.

Maybe this: Politico

or maybe PolitiCO. Like... company. PolitiCompany.

Maybe your demo could be called notmywarbutstillmyfight. That could be fun.

Kack

Ura-Nation

Gurd

BBP (Blood born pathogen)

Which brings to mind Universal Precautions. :D

Kack's interesting. Maybe a combination of words like Kackfeltch. :D

Someone else had Codpiece as a name idea. I still think going for two words would help, i.e. Ancient Loincloth. ;)

If it were an 8 piece band they could be "Octacock"

fireincairo is in a punk band?! that seems out of character.

QUOTE]

Why would that surprise you? I mean, early Cure were very much a part of the punk/new wave movement of the late 79s early80s.

Check out this live version of Fire In Cairo from 1980:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=7iGHgjOHyN8 Live in Boston, to be exact. Very punk, if you ask me.
