Members Devi Ever
I've heard the Mig 50 is a clone of a ... Fender something or other? As the Mig 50's prices are going up, I'm beginning to wonder if I should look into what ever the hell it was a copy of. ... or a similar sounding amp. Thanks in advance! Members LoneStarGuitar
JCM 800 that is the Mig 60. I sold mine because it was too close to my JMP. Mig 50 iirc, is quite similar to a tweed bassman Bassman.

Members NITEFLY182
Sovtek is usually almost straight bassman or straight JCM800 with minor changes. I belive the tube midget is the Bassman and the Mig 50 and 100s are JCM800s with verious gain structures.
Members Gremson
I heard the Mig50 is somewhere between a bassman and a plexi. Either way, they sound fucking glorious. I love mine.
Members Dynasoar
Own a Mig 50, definately a Bassman/JTM clone. Mig60 and 100 are JCM 800 clones, I believe.
Members freeridstylee
For a cheap alternative, try the old peavey vtm 60 or 120. Killer amps, pretty much jcm 800s with a lot of mods on dip switches via the front of the amp. I rewired mine to run off of el34s (from 6l6s), was brittish amp heaven. Members C Fuzz
Devi, are you not happy with your Blackheart? If it is more volume your after what about just adding another 1x12 cab to it.
Members Devi Ever
Devi, are you not happy with your Blackheart? If it is more volume your after what about just adding another 1x12 cab to it. I really do like the Black Hearts, but they colour my tone more than I'd like. I'm hard core when it comes to having pedals shape my tone and the amp simply being an amplifier, though I also like what tubes do with dirt pedals more than I prefer solid states. The Mig was my baby back in the day when I was playing live and made pedals sound golden, but now that I think about it, I didn't have a Mig 50... I had a Mig 100 (heavy son of a bitch!). So awesome... JCM 800 then, eh? Ha ha. Looks like the Sovtek Mig is still the most affordable way to go! Thanks again everyone!
Members houseofglass21
i remember trading one of my mig-50's to you back in the day devi. i regretted that kinda. the mig-50 is a great amp. i haven't found an amp that could replace it and believe me i've tried. two oranges - an ad-140 and an or-80, a mesa rectoverb (was pretty nice but the fx loop wouldn't work the way i wanted), and a couple marshall heads...none of them could displace the mig-50. everytime i did an a/b it just sounded better. Members XanaduNEX
OT, but was at a small diy show tonight watching a friend's band, and the band after them had this: On the right you can see a Torn's Peaker. Made me smile.
Members M900
Devi, the Mig 50 is a Bassman clone. I sold mine to pick up a real Bassman after the prices started to climb up. Look for a nice, early silverface (68 or 69) for a couple of hundred less than the Mig.
Members Devi Ever
On the right you can see a Torn's Peaker. Made me smile. Rock on! Good combination with those other two pedals as well.
Members beardcom
yeah, like a blackface bassman but with less headroom. jcm 800s aren't really thaaat far from bassmans but earlier marshalls are closer.
Members M900
Sweet. I've used a silverface bassman and loved those as well. Very very very good news. Thank you very much for that! Spoke with John L. a while ago, and he told me that he refurbished a Sovtek for you... Did you flip it, or are you looking for a backup? How'd you like the upgraded Mig? Did you flip it, or are you looking for a backup? How'd you like the upgraded Mig? I gave up playing in a live band / song writing for a few years, so I sold off pretty much all my gear a while back. I'm finally getting back into the game, so I'm slowly building up my ideal live rig again.
Members BillM
it's a clone of the marshall model 1987. yeah it's still cheaper ......
