I'm in town for a few days on a course, so went there for my semi-regular visit, always looking for an OD

Tried out some OD's in Musicground, and the American (or Canadian ?) with the tattoos was a complete chimp whilst I was playing and for that he misses out on a sale. Fantasttic range of pedals in there, but

thats funny. He was so nice to me when I was there. They were a bit high. Wunjo was way cool, a tad pricey but it is London, but the Boss Metallizer I saw for like 90 pounds..man that was crazy. oh yeah, and a roland beebaa for 350 pounds. They had alot of zvex but were way snobby..

The guys in Vintage and Rare are indeed the nicest.

They know I don't have thousands to spend but, totally cool, remember my name let me try stuff out as long as I want. And they have the best range of pedals, I've bought four or five from them over the last few years.

In Music Ground once, I wanted to try out a PolyChorus and a Deluxe Memory Man, the tubby guy in there started patronising me...'well they're totally different pedals, there's no point comparing them'

I {censored}ING KNOW THEY'RE DIFFERENT I WANTED TO SEE WHICH WOULD BE MORE USE TO ME!

They guys in Wunjo are nice too, they just don't sell much I'm intrested in.

I know Bryan and his team from Wunjo for a while. They are the nicest guys ever. They have a good choice of guitars. I don't think Bryan is into the pedal business really, he prefers the guitar side. Even the amps are sorta ok.

Love the guys though.

Vintage And Rare are actually quite nice as well in the sense they let you try quite a lot of stuff and find your way around their pedals.

Yeh I'm no fan of the Music Ground Staff, I tend to avoid that store unless I know they're the only guys that'll stock a pedal I'm wanting to try out. Its only a matter of time before someone throws something big and heavy like a DMM at one of them.

Vintage and Rare - absolutely amazing customer service, and they do part-exchanges with other pedals too.

Wunjo - Great guys too, but they're stock isn't great for the things I want.

Problem is, I got a feeling that Music Ground will be the only guys that'll stock a couple of EL84s that I need to get this afternoon

+1 on Wunjo... Brian and co are top... i have always gone to them to sell anything and its the first shop i go to if im on Denmark Street for a chat and smoke. I knew Brian when he worked in Andys years ago... I remember when he was setting up the shop, he was worried about how it would turn out... well Andy's closed down coz they were rip off fraudsters...

Muscground, the fat prick is just unreal... i pure hate him... He'd sooner tell you to f**k off then give you a

on my annual trip to london there is always a obligatory visit down denmark street, but i'm only looking - everything is toooo expensive there. but i really like checking out all the beautiful gear in one street, gear that i normally don't see for real in my country. i bought a coloursound tonebender once at wunjo though.

What's even scarier is where I've been able to compare, the Leeds MusicGround store has similar prices. Several of the shops are owned by the same people - they just run them as different brands, but they don't fight each other.

Andy's has already died, which is a real shame - that was my "try the expensive gear" shop. I do think, though, there will still be a place for try&buy, and it has to be fairly accessible. There are good specialist shops elsewhere with decent stock, but who talks about them?

My current fave, though, is Soho Soundhouse (aka turnkey), just around the corner.

... Horrible isn't it?

I can't remember who said it before -

"Denmark Street is for trying, not for buying!"

:thu:

It is but I've found my les paul at music ground. It wasn't the best deal I admit but it surely is the best les paul I ever played and heard so I'm not upset of having forked out the money for it.

Great shop though for keys and studio stuff.

They are easier about testing guitar AND amp there than almost anywhere else - got my S2170 NTF there, and it was nicer-playing that the two I had tried on Denmark St, and cheaper. Multiple trial rooms.

And I only found the acoustic room recently.
