Help Deciding Tube for Tonebone Trimode needed

Hi all,

right, I think its time to change the tube (12ax7) in me Tonebone so i started by e-mailing Radial for the tube it uses. I got a reply stating they use Ruby tubes. So i e-mailed back saying which one (as theres lower gain and higher gain models) there reply wasn't great, he said he couldnt remember off hand.

 

Now, ive been looking at the ruby tubes and theres a few to choose from but, is it worth getting a completely different make seen as the Rubys are Chinesse ?

 

Also am i right in thinking im looking for a hugh gain tube ?

 

Any Recommendations ? the pedals mostly used for Metal at the mo and seems to lack sustain.
