............ I think.

Read on:

According to the Behringer site, the Vintage Time Machine (VM1) isn't available at all in North America. Furthermore, it says that it isn't available anywhere else until Q3 2008. (I think it has said that forever though ... I did some more searching and these are available in Europe right now it seems.)

So I'm cruising the interweb and I discover that Studica.com is selling them -- with free shipping no doubt. I did a few brief searches and I didn't really see anything negative about Studica. I've bought from a couple places in the past that I really wished I would've looked up first .... this place seems legit though.

Anyway, I'm instantly skeptical, so I call the Studica reps. The conversation (to the best of my ability to remember) is as follows:

"Studica, this is Brenda, how can I help you?"

"Yeah, I'm calling to get some information on a product."

"Okay, which product do you have questions about?"

"It's called the Behringer Vintage Time Machine. The VM1."

[Pause]

"Okay, I have it here. What can I do for you?"

"I'm a little curious about this product because according to the manufacturers website, this isn't available in the North America ... let alone the US. Is this really something I can order?"

"Let me see if we have any in stock."

[Pause]

"Okay. I see here that we don't have any in stock, but if and when you place an order, we'll get one sent in from Behringer."

"How long do you think that will take?"

"I'll be honest with you sir -- probably about three weeks. They're usually pretty slow."

"I'm still very surprised by all of this. Like I said, according to the Behringer site, this isn't even available in the US. So, will it take so long because it's coming from overseas?"

"I think we have a distributor for them here, so I'm not sure. Everything from them seems to take awhile though."

The conversation went on for a short while longer ... but come to find out, Studica is one of those places that doesn't charge your credit card until they ship out your order ... so I think I'm covered either way. I mean, at this point, I'm not sure whether to expect a VM1 in my mailbox in three weeks or what ... but either way, it's worth a shot. I mean ... yeah, it's behringer ... but a $70 DMM? Come on .... someone has to give one of these a try.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are you need to step away from the phone and give your wife your credit card!!! You are on a tear, my friend!!!!

Hopefully this works out for you. Doesn't sound too shady to me. Makes sense enough that Behringer would ship it from there place. Keep us posted.

show me somewhere, that has this in stock (anywhere in the world) and I'll eat my own foot. There are UK websites which have it listed, but none of them have it.

This is what I'm thinking. I had to give it a shot .... especially since they weren't going to charge me right off the bat.

Either way ... I'm covered. If it comes ... awesome. If not ... no hassle in trying to get my money back.

Heh.... I'm finally on the plus side of my bank account actually. I've sold off some gear and have some cash to blow.

I'm hesitantly excited. I'm fully not expecting it to ever come .... but if it did, that would be sweet.

It'd be amazing if you get it but behringer probably won't send it to them since they stated that it won't be available in the US till q3.

Ah..... they stated it's not available in North America at all.

It's not available anywhere else until Q3.

Any particular reason why? Do you know something we don't? Or is it just wishful thinking?

Common sense? Basic logic? If EHX is running out of chips to make the DMM, what makes anyone think that BEHRINGER could get them to make a DMM clone? Also, for $70 it will most definitely not even compare quality-wise to a DMM.

I'm all for awesome, cheap delays. Hell, if this thing ever actually comes out and is good, I'll get one myself. All I'm pointing out is that, although it looks like a DMM physically, it won't sound like one. :idk:

I just had a thread going on about this. If you ever get this pedal...it will rock. Their regular delays sound fine, and I dont think there is any way to go wrong for 70.00

Absolutely!

If this comes ... I'll have 3 delays.

DD-20, RV-3 (on the way!), DD-20

I have a DD-3 on my board right now with the DD-20 .... but that's going as soon as the RV-3 gets here. Still trying to work a couple of deals for that.

I don't want to put you on a downer mate, but until it appears here showing as 'in stock' it doesn't exist, Thomann in Germany. They stock what seems like every behringer product available and they seem to get things quicker than anywhere else too. It's not even listed let alone showing as 'in stock'....sorry dude but please don't build your hopes up on this.

Oh ... I'm not at all. I'm fully expecting that this will never come. I wouldn't of done it if I would've had to pay for it now .... only since they weren't going to charge me did I order it. If it comes ... AWESOME!! If not ... no biggie. You can send me one when they come out over there. :poke:

I tend to agree with that statement, and even further more I agree as well that it may be an awesome delay. Time will tell with this one as we all know behringer stuff is hit or miss by a longshot

I went to the source...Behringer will release the item in Europe Q3 2008, 1Q 2009 United States....so looks like we can look forward to this in September.

OT, what stage do you guys think they are in development? They have set the price, have the outside of the box done, I think they are trying to nail down a process to build the board for the lowest price. In orther words, I bet they have the design and the parts, they now are working on labor....where do you think they are in development?

honestly....nowhere, I think they came up with the idea for ripping off a classic ehx pedal then realised that it wasn't as easy to build a 'cheap version' as they hoped it would be.
