Members Nighthawkst3
Are there any effects for traditional guitars (not MIDI) that approximate the sound of a Clavinet? I know that organs and rotating speakers have been attempted to be emulated but never heard anything about Clavinets which have a really awesome funky sound. Phil O'Keefe
IIRC, we had a similar discussion a while back. I'm not saying it can't be discussed again; just pointing that out in case you want to do a search.
Phil O'Keefe
http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/search.php?searchid=2826484 My apologies - it was electric pianos, not clavs. But a couple of clav related threads did come up - hopefully some of that will be useful to you. Members Nighthawkst3
Sorry about that, I should have done a search first. Thanks for the link, I will have a look at some of those threads.
Members Coma Larkin
I could get something approaching it w/ a low-level fuzz and a ring mod. It was mostly about playing technique to get a short, sharp attack, and I didn't practice it enough.
Members jorhay1
1st and foremost is how you playyou will have to emulate how sound is generated on a clav, use keyboard type voicings and style (for instance stacatto low riffs with double stops, and i'd use fingers or finger picks, a flat pick is too different)as far as effects go, i would try a doubling effect, and a band pass filter for starters if you have an electric 12 string, or any double stringed guitar like a Quatro Boriqua it might be closer
