Members gjhardwick
I make ambient/drone music (http://www.myspace.com/garethhardwick if you're interested) and i figured a fuzz pedal would be a useful addition to my pedal arsenal. Looking to get some Tim Hecker-ish/saturated/synthy tones. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Members gjhardwick
The Ebow gets used every now and again, mainly for controlled feedback type swells, etc

Members Mr. Shankly
Your going to want a variety of fuzz/od combos for ambient especially in recording situations as the textures you get from the combinations are as important as delay and reverb. Also remember that panning is your best friend. That said here are my current fuzzes/od's: DBA Fuzz GunJersey Girl Keekruder DisturberJH Octave FuzzBarge BB-Jr.Monsterpiece NPNVintage RatBlue Boy Deluxe Also want to add a Screwdriver and a Peppermint Fuzz to the mix soon. Members Coma Larkin
Been thinking a lot recently about using multiple EQ's for ambient/drone stuff in order to make the different sounds "sit" in the aural mud better. Have 3 or 4 EQ's in a bypass loop set to different settings, and then using them individually for certain parts. I guess a fuzz could be used somewhat like this, too, depending on what frequencies it's emphasizing?
Members Liberty Belle
bigmuffs a good start.
Members z1o
perhaps a bluebox, which not only gives a very nice fuzz but also the two octaves down possibility, sounds great in multiple layered textures! other than that by hearing your stuff i'd say a big muff for the smoothness, i don't think a fuzzfactory would work for you, it's way to raspy... i really like your recordings! i do drones aswell; www.myspace.com/machinistdrone i use a bluebox and a wooly mammoth... Maybe you should troy the Pi. The LBM is a more mid range pedal. But whatever you like.
