XP 300 Space Station eBay Seller Non-Sell

What would you do, or how would you feel?

Here's the story:

I won a "Mint Condition, Still in the Box" XP-300 Space Station on eBay last week. I won it at a reasonable price of $255 with $20 shipping. I was only the second bidder. I don't think anyone else bid on it because it was the seller's first transaction as a seller. He only had 3 transactions as a buyer to his history. I took my chances. I sent the money order, and he received it last Thursday (2/28/2008). I left several emails asking him if he received the money order. He didn't answer me back until late last night, Tuesday (3/4/2008).

My suspicion is that the seller either found someone who offered a lot more money for it, or he decided he didn't want to sell it for such a low price.

Again, how would you feel, or what would you do?

If it is broken as he claims, you would want your back likely, correct? So maybe he made an honest mistake. He might've gotten a better deal too, who knows. What he should have done is contacted you first and see if you still wanted it, even broken, or he would return your money, then you would have had the choice. As long as you get your money back - I wouldn't have gone for this auction unless it was paypal. Maybe you got lucky, we'll see...

IMO a normal person would have told you about the problem (if there actually is one) and then offered to send the money order back unless you still wanted it. I would have asked him why he didn't test it before listing the item and inquire as to the exact nature of the problem in the preset.

wait till you actually get your money back. re-sold it or not, you have to give him props for atleast not running off with your money.

Hmmm... no disrespect, but any business that carried the slogan, "Hey, at least we didn't run off with your money!" isn't going to last very long - talk about a lack of integrity  So no, I don't feel any incentive to give him props ;)

I think he definitely found someone else to buy it. His explanation makes no sense whatsoever. How can some patches 'not work' but others can? They're all using the same junk.

I'm in a pretty {censored}ty situation with a first time seller too. I won the guitar he was selling for a reasonable price and he said he accepted paypal. Turns out he never registered his email address with paypal and now he's trying to talk me into sending him a check for the guitar, which I'm not willing to do.

I also had to cyberstalk this guy to the point of finding his myspace account and sending him a message on there. He won't reply to any of my emails or messages on ebay.

If he was lying, why would he say something so random? Why not just say "I tried it again and it isn't working. It's been a long time since it's been used, so I didn't realize it was broken"? That would be so much easier, rather than going into the whole song and dance about the buddy and the weird problem.

:idk:

While I think it sounds like he did find someone else to buy it, I actually have an XP-1000 where about half the patches work and the others don't. It's pretty lame, but that's life I guess.
