Members Lanefair
Last night, I put it where my compressor normally is, settings 5,1,1,7 (gain all the way down) and it boosted my amp into sweet bliss. Anyway I'm probably really late with this realistation. Just thought I'd say wow.

Members IvIark
You want to try the Screamin Blues too, it's the same series and a similarly excellent pedal. It makes a nice higher gain alternative to the BM.
Members thezeng
do you put clean boosts at the end of the chain or before distortion?

Members Lanefair
I put mine first after the guitar. I tried the screaming blues the same time as the bad monkey. It seemed to have a little too much high end fizz for my liking. You could dial it out easily, but the fact is it was there in the first place. . . Members Small Stone
+1 for the Bad Monkey as a clean boost. I use it after my Rat to boost solos, and it's amazing. And loud. I think I'll try it in front of the Rat, to see what happens...
Members Crxsh
For awhile I used a Silver Kiss as a clean boost ... but I couldn't ever justify using a $100+ boutique pedal as just a clean boost. So that's gone now. My recent acquisition of a Box of Rock has fixed that problem though .... dirt+boost and man does that thing kill. I was playing some Pearl Jam before work this morning and I was in love. But that's not what I'm here for. Anyway ... I've always heard good things about the Bad Monkey ... but why not just buy a booster? An LPB-1 is comparably priced (less even) ... why not just use that? I realize that it'll color your tone some ... but I can't see the Bad Monkey doing it any better.
Members IvIark
I prefer boosting with a good OD because I don't necessarily want just a clean boost. You can boost the bass a bit is you want a fatter lead, boost the treble a bit if you want a bit more cut. I just find an OD is perfect because it offers the best of both worlds. I've also got a Catalinbread SCP and although it is a great clean boost, I tend to use it more as just a buffer because when I do use it as a boost I often wish I had the extra boost tone shaping control. Something like the Bad Monkey or Zoom PD-01 are great because of their separate High and Low EQ. I also just got a Sole Pressure and that makes a marvellous fat boost. Members leod_74
I hated my Bad Monkey when I first got it because for some reason I was expecting a cheap tube screamer sounding pedal. So I put it aside for a few months. Then I picked up an amp that needed a clean boost and decided to try the BM, it works amazingly as a clean boost! Bad monkey has speaker out, low, high, gain, for not much more money. Also I got mine in a bargain bin so it was cheaper than an lpb, but i'd probably have paid full price if i'd tried one.
