Members Loobster
Been fine in my experience. You could probably sell the pickups on ebay, but for a small amount.
Members TomCTC
I'd save your pennies and get a used Light Ash or Highway One Tele. Much better quality for a few hundred more.
Members monkeyland
don't know if they changed the body wood in '06 when they did all of the other changes but back around 2000 i used to work at a shop that sold fenders and most of the mexi models were poplar back then
Members hangwire
does anyone know if certain colors were only relased for certian years or models? I have an opportunity to get a complete tele body that they said was MIM, but it looks like the Higwhay 1 model with a very pale light blue... the standard doesn't come in the color according to soem websites... Members monkeyland
it was called blue agave i remember our customers liking it a lot. i sold quite a few strats and teles in that color. it has a subtle metallic content to it also. looks nice if you like blue guitars

Members monkeyland
back then they were poplar which is pretty much the same as basswood if i remember correctly. all around good sounding wood although not that great looking for a transparent finish. i think the biggest thing is consistency with those guitars
Members johnrambo
alders are what type of tone? basswood has been my fav wood so far... personally i don't think there is enough difference to matter so i'm not the person to ask. once you entomb it in a thick layer of polyurethane it doesn't really matter that much. pickups count 10x more. Members hangwire
I have a neck, and pickups [gfs tele lipstick tube bridge, fender jazzmaster neck stock pickups] maybe a tele noob question: I have a nicer looking tele bridge... kinda brushed looking, darker... and the body comes with one too... any reason to swap them tone or tuning wise?
