Rack units that'll let me...

The Digitech Quad 4 will let you do that, routing effects in any order, not just serially, but also with up to 4 parallel lines. The modulation is very lush, you get up to 8 x 5 seconds delays and it's got a good intelligent harmonizer too. It's discontinued but you can find them at a bargain price second hand.

The TC G-Force will also let you route in any way you like with up to 4 parallel lines if you want to spend a bit more money.

Boss GX-700. Cheap and sounds pretty good too.

i was going to say the same. i have one, and its amazingly intuitive. far moreso than single pedals i've owned too.. like the Yamaha UD-stomp or multifx.

plus.. (keep this quiet).. it has a VB-2, PN-2, pitch shifter with programmable harmonies, 3-Tap Delay and RV-2 reverb (with all sorts of eq'ing and high freq damping) oh.. and the never-released Boss "RM-1" Ring Modulation, that also has an 'intelligent' mode which makes a better tremolo effect than the actual tremolo mode.. not to mention the rest!

and they usually go for under

Damn you Zachman for fuelling my GAS! It'll take me quite a long time to be able to afford those units; I mean c'mon - I'm still in highschool and I don't have a job!

;) You and I share a similar beginning, re: an early appreciation for the finer things available. All things in time.

Enjoy the journey. You'll learn a ton about what you like, how to work stuff and what you expect from your gear- as you experience all the things that you will.

Rock on :thu:

Can anyone recommend an unit that's not out of production?

Boss GT-Pro can do it. You can either do it on the unit itself or connect it to a computer and do it in the nice graphical GT-Pro Editor. :) If you're using it with an amp that has an effects loop, you can also do so you can choose which effects you want before the amp, and which you want in the loop.

I usually do it in the editor because I like having a visual overview of all effects and some of their settings, like so: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct06/images/boss2_l.jpg (not my image, found on Google image search)
