Members WorkingClassDan
About to nab a volume pedal before recording our new album. I've been using a fair few volume swells with my volume knob and using the swell on the HOG too. So time has come to spring for a dedicated volume pedal - even just for studio use. So is there a consensus on what to get? I need some opinions. It's been a while since there was a thread about volumes and I'm looking at the Ernie Ball VP Jr, the new Boss FV-500, the old Boss FV-50 and well, they're not available locally but the Goodrich ones are talked about a lot too as being the high end for these... I'm leaning towards the EB. The FV500 looks plasticy and large, the old plastic Boss is cheap and I don't really have an issue with that style of pedal. Never tried the Goodriches. so, what's the go? Members NITEFLY182
If you have the money, the goodrich ones are great and have a really nice buffer. The EB is a nice alternative.

Members The*Ataris
The Ernie Ball is the most solidly built pedal ever produced. I can't count how many times I've played out with it, dragged it to practice, whatever, and it doesn't even have a scratch on it seven years later. Yeah, there are volume pedals with more expensive electronics out there, but the Ernie Ball will get the job done every time... ...plus I LIKE the treble roll off. I mean, who doesn't want to sit back in the mix when you turn down your volume?

Members MuffFuzz
You really can't go wrong with either the Boss or the Ernie Ball volume pedals.
Members elxchino
I feel that EB pots seem to get crackly faster. Probably cause they're more exposed. Sucks when it comes unexpectedly like when you're doing volume swells. Smooth...smooth...CRACKITY CRACKITY CRACK!! Hate that...
Members homestar_kevin
I got a really old DeArmond 1602 and it's pretty bad ass, but yeah I think EB is the go to guy

I prefer the Boss FV500's over the EB's because they're tougher built, don't have the pots exposed to the elements and when the string on the EB goes, it's a pain in the ass to repair. AND... IMO, the Boss pedals look cooler too
Members blackjack davey
I'm really liking my Fender Volume RI. The nice thing about it is that it has a chrome ridge that covers all the moving parts inside thus eliminate dust collection and the need for pot replacements, etc.

Are you in Toto?Ya, they are....Don't be a hater... Dealing with my pedal board is no bother at all, actually it's very convenient when it comes to controlling a ton of stuff with a simple button press. It controls my tower of fun:
