Anybody do that whole "2 OD pedals and a Comp" Keeley thing?

I was just wondering how others have found good tones with that setup. I have accumulated over time a Fuzz Head, a Baked TS9, and a DS-1 Ultra, as well as the Keeley comp for individual applications.

Anybody have some pointers on how they might play nice together? I mean, the whole idea of putting the comp after the OD seems counterintuitive to me, so enlighten me, hippies.

nope, i is not.

I always used the compressor first in line, but only because i wanted a cleaner sound.

Nowadays when i make the transition from dirty to clean sounds i find that the compressor after my RS and Timmy just sounds great.

The Germ i only use as a clean booster, it is one great pedal

I am interested in whether people who use the 2 OD/comp setup generally put the higher gain OD first or second, relative drive/boost levels, etc. I've been messing around with it this morning, just wondering what others have been successful with.

I use two overdrives after my comp. Three if you count my Keeley modded BD2, but I really use the BD2 as a clean boost.

I just got a SD Twin Tube Classic pedal that I am in love with. I'm still playing with where to put it. Right now I have it after my Fulltone FD2. The only reason why I am keeping the FD2 on the board is my love for a certain sound I can get from the pedal that I just love with my single coils. The Twin Tube Classic is set just a tad more dirty than my FD2, but I don't really drive one with the other. I do have my my distortion and fuzz pedals after my overdrive.

I hope this helps.

Now we're getting somewhere.
:thu:

the reason i dont usally dont put my comp pre dirt is because i like the way my dirt pedals react to my playing dynamics and guitar volume.

comps by nature mess with your dynamics (they are classified as a dynamic processor)

so i would rather squash my overall dirt sound than distort my sqaushed sound.

but thats just me.

I run A Keeley Comp into Fuzzhead into Keeley BD2.
The compressor goes first simply because it's always on. I've gotten to the stage where if I turn it off I don't like the sound as much.
The BD-2 goes last because I use it as my main OD sound with the Fuzzhead there for leads and stuff. I've found that when the fuzz is before the OD it does not change the tone at all, whereas there's a noticeable difference when the higher gain pedal is last.........the bottom end seems to disappear.
