Reverb into distortion

There's a local band I really like, and one of their guitar players gets this really interesting flute-like tone sometimes. I thought it sounded really cool, and I was curious how she did it.

So, I moved closer to the stage at one of their shows and looked at her pedals... it was a DD5 into a DS1.

Dirt>Reverb is the obvious way to run them in your chain, but Reverb>Fuzz can be a lot more vibe-y, it's great for lead/riff parts when you want to fatten up your sound.

You tend to only need a bit of reverb (blend/mix/level) to make it work, you can also try shortening the decay if possible... Holy Grail into a Fuzz Factory can be pretty cool sounding.

Reverb/delay into dirt can sound really good, but I wouldn't run it that way unless I had a second (read: Main) reverb/delay to run post dirt too.

This is what I do. I have my main delays and reverb where they traditionally go, at the end of the chain, but I keep a DigiVerb before my distortion boxes for that cool wash with flutey overtone thing.
