Members thezeng Posted March 14, 2008 Members Posted March 14, 2008 my whole chain gives this massive un-gateable noise. if i turn on my noise gate i have to cut my whole volume until it cant be heard, however when i take them two out of hte chain there's no hum. what gives? i think it might have to do with the power supplies...
Members andreas Posted March 14, 2008 Members Posted March 14, 2008 Wahs are notoriously sensitive to EMI fields emitted by power supplies, so you may have to physically move things about to get rid of the hum. In other words, the power supply for the Whammy can induce hum in the wah, if they get too close. Try moving the supply further away from the wah (sometimes, the EMI field isn't round, so turning the supply around can also help). Also, how are you powering the wah? I always recommend people to stick with batteries for normal Crybaby/Vox wahs, as they will usually be the least noisy that way. The battery last ages anyway, so it's not something you'll be likely to have to change weekly =) /Andreas
Members Kayzer Posted March 14, 2008 Members Posted March 14, 2008 I also had a bad humming problem with my whammy! I turned the power supply and put it somwhere other and the humm was gone...
