Members tattoedsailor
Just got a $100 gift certificate. Need to get Analog Flanger. Ive heard sound bites from the Ibanez FL 9 and guyatone. The Ibanez sounds awesome but Guyatone got strong reviews. What Flanger are you guys using ? I mainly need it for 70's stoner rock(Floyd,Rush). This is what i currently have for modulation effects Small stone, small clone and DMMH. I use to have a Deluxe electric mistress. I thought it was to metalic sounding. Members Jules-RM
whats wrong with the EVH vs the regular mxr flanger? EVH flanger probably isn't that much different, but it guarantees some VH fan in the crowd will harass you all night trying to get you to play "Unchained". Not a fun position to be in. Members Destructobot
Try to find an Ibanez FL-99 (NOT the FL-9). It does great classic flange sounds and a whole lot more. They're a bit uncommon but in your price range for sure.
Members PINKUSFLOYDUS
I had an ADA flanger and got rid of it 20 years ago... what a mistake. If you can afford one, try it out and compare it to an MXR.They are somewhat different, but for the money, the MXR is very good.Almost all MXR stuff is superior to most, in my opinion.I like to think that MXR's stuff is a kind of "benchmark" for comparison to other pedal manufacturers. Members 89strat
I have never tried the MXR Flanger, the grey one. I've only tried the EVH, and to be honest with, I thought it was a little sterile sounding, and a little metallic. Is the standard MXR Flanger warmer sounding? Can it get a chorus sound out of it? Members cloudscapes
I have both the ibanez FL9 and arion SFL-1 the arion costs less than half (a third?) of the ibanez, yet it sounds ten times better! I'm completelly serious, it can do mellow and it can do deep wall-shaking flanger. it's also very very quiet, lessn oise than the ibanez. sure the build quality is plastic but I couldn't be happier with the way it sounds! Members thezeng
i have the EVH Flanger and notice a volume drop. i still like the flanger though. i really don't think there are many great flangers on the market yet. try the tc electronic SCF and Fulltone Choralflange? Members Armitage
The problem with MXR stuff is the tone sucking when off...
