If your gear got stolen...

I was thinking about this while packing up yesterday. Would I be more upset if my amp, guitar or pedalboard got stolen? I have an extra amp and a few guitars... The hardest thing for me to replace would be my board and pedals...

What do you think?

having my guitar stolen would be disastrous. All the time spent wearing in the neck, beating it up, rewiring it and restringing it. Not to mention the paint job one of my friend's did on it my first year of college.

Amps and pedals? I don't think I'd give a {censored}, they don't really have the same sentimental value, they're just really goddamn expensive.

I am very very careful with my gear when I gig, I don't give a {censored} about being polite and staying to see the other bands on the bill, my {censored} goes in the car and I leave to take it home. I blasted this one band on Myspace when they got their gear stolen(the story was basicly they loaded it up in their van in dallas and left the keys or something, they went in to see the other band, came out and all their {censored} was gone, btw there are like 6 people in the band!), I received hate mail for weeks by their "fans"...but hey....if it could have been avoided by using common sense you shouldn't be begging people to donate money to replace your {censored}, you should accept that you are a dumb ass and learn from it... Now, if my house got broken into, that would be a valid reason for a homicide/suicide... Behringer is making some really decent stuff now to where I would probably spend about a 100 bucks getting their "versions" of things I use(muffs, superfuzzes, analog delays) and avoid some of this on the front end..I gave this suggestion to that band, but I am sure they won't take any of it. I don't know, I wouldn't leave my cash laying around, I feel the same about my gear, I try not to buy bull{censored}, I like to purchase "investments", I know that accidents happen, but I try not to make mistakes that cost a couple grand! I think the people who are stealing this gear (Dinosaur Jr's for example) know exactly what they are going for, they know what to take and what not to {censored} with, brand names make it a lot easier for them to do that. I If I went Ceriatone-Mexican Strat-Behringer pedals, I think that would really rival my sound at the house and deter thieves, that just me though.

If my Gibson was stolen I would be heartbroken, it's the first and only Gibson I will prob own for a while. And I believe it was supposed to be mine. I saw it in a George's music shop one day and although I didn't like the color of all black, it was a les paul and since i am left handed it was the only one I actually saw in a store for years. But I didn't buy it cause I was still playing a mexi strat. My guitar teacher had a les paul and I loved it. So I went back to the store to buy it but didn't see it on the wall. I was in a box being shipped to a different store cause no one wanted it. I asked if they still had it and they did so I bought it. And I did all my gigging with it. So if that was stolen it would be bad cause with the addition of the new baby there is no way I could buy another Gibson for a while.

The amp and pedals are nothing special but expensive.

My Les Paul Standard. Everything is insured anyway so it's all replaceable, but I bought the Les Paul new and have had it now for 19 years so it's got more sentimental value. Also it has almost 2 decades worth of playing behind it to wear it in nicely and it's all been done by me.

I only care about one of my guitars. Its VERY sentimental to me. If it got stolen, I'd actually hunt the person for it. The rest, I'd hate to loose but could replace. Effects? {censored} 'em. My main sounds are based around patches in my MFXs, so I'd rebuy, reload and hit the road again.

My amps are replaceable, too. As long as my fingers aren't stolen, I'm good.

i'd replace it all with the insurance money!

where'd you get your insurance? I'm thinking about two of my guitars since they have sentimental value to me and "it's not you can find everyday guitar", at least to me.

thanks.

All my gear is insured, but it would be much more time consuming to track down all my favorite pedals as opposed to a single amp. But if my guitars were stolen, I'd be extremely upset 'cuz they have much more sentimental value than any amp or effect.

Some kid jacked a pedal I had made and then tryed to sell it at a local shop. I welded the f*cking enclosure by hand yet he still insisted he had bought it. The shop bought it for 10 bucks and gave it back to me for free.
