Members Ambient Exposure
I have one of three choices. (photos are of the actually amps I'm looking at) This will be the last amp I get for a LONG time, so the decision is crucial!!!! Remember, amps in Australia are a lot harder to come by cheap then they are in the states. POST OPINIONS TOO. =========================================================================================================== I can get a Basically new Fender Deluxe Reverb 65 Reissue for $1500 AU.(4 months old with receipts) =========================================================================================================== =========================================================================================================== Or I can get a 1961 Bandmaster Reverb head and cab for $1850 AU (Needs cosmetic work) =========================================================================================================== Or I can get another amp worth $1500 AU that i haven't found yet, but you can recommend. I'm looking for that sweet fender tone. I already have an Vox AC-15 loaded with a Weber Blue, and a Fender 410 Hotrod Deville. I'm just after another magic tone. Again, This will be the last amp I get for a LONG time, so the decision is crucial!!!!
Members CiceroTJones
BANDMASTER, hands down. More character, it'll add bass to your amp rig (paired with the AC-15), and vintage silverface Fenders just have that clear Fender sound.Don't worry about the cosmetics. Reissue vs. Real thing... REAL THING!

Members monkeyland
bandmaster. handwired vintage amp with character verses boring mass produced reissue. there are tons of those reissues out there and only a limited number of vintage ones. i'm sure it's especially limited in your part of the world thread closed. Members ChrisFFTA
bandmasters are lovely for sure... but the one pictured aint a 61. it is a later model... most likely a 70s model. you already have a fender amp... maybe look for an old orange or hiwatt. would complement your current arsenal

Members Fender&EHX4ever
Original 1963 Brown VibroVerb (6G16) http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/vibroverb_brown.html http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280202582435&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018 35 watts. 2 X 10s. It's punchy, and breaks up nicely at a practical volume. One of the last amps made before Leo Fender sold to CBS. It's the first Fender amp to include a spring reverb. Less than 700 of these babies produced.

I agree, the only thing that kills me is the price. Looking at the average price people paid was a lot less.
Members ThreeGutRock
Pretty pricey for a clearly used amp. While it may have charm, it also probably has some wear related problems, too. I'd go with the DRRI, because I'm a boring, mass produced, working amp kinda guy.
Members ChrisFFTA
for AUD1850 IN Australia it is a reasonably decent deal, but it just isnt a 61 bandmaster...
Members jake.lind
I would get a nice Marshall or Hiwatt. Then you'd have your classic blues (fender), classic rock (marshall or hiwatt), and classic god-tone (vox) covered. Why do you want another amp when you've got an AC-15 again? Or, you could take a completely different route and try to get a used mesa-boogie or 5150 as you don't have anything like those, it seems, and who knows? High gain might be fun, and if you get it used, you won't be losing much, if at all, if you try to sell it again.
Members ArrMatey
that bandmaster sure looks pretty! At that price though, you can find a better deal. Depends what you want but I think that's a bit pricey. What do you play? What kind of sound are you trying to achieve?

I want that classic fender chime I didn't "quite" achieve with my Deville.Don't get me wrong, I love the Deville, and I want to mod the hell out of it when I get my next amp. (speakers, tubes, and especially cosmetic)It just never the particular chime I was after.I'm thinking I would love to A/B the AC-15 and Fender Deluxe Reverb. Members Roy Brooks
Of those two I would probably go with the Bandmaster. Though the one pictured is definitely not a 1961. It appears to be from the very late sixties or early seventies.
