Yeah I take the plunge on something silly about once or twice a year. Who knows, it might be awesome. I've been using an Evidence melody cable for a while but its solid core so its pretty damn stiff. This is supposed to be much more flexible although its also solid core. Damnit Im a corksniffer.

Haha, oh well. As long as you have fun playing through it and you're not going into debt or anything. :).

I'd be interested to hear what you think and stuff once you get it all wired up.

please do a blind A/B comparison

Eh... I dont even care to prove to anyone that one cable is better than another. Otherwise I would work for an audiophile magazine and not a newspaper. Those guys do usualy end up with piles of free high end interconnects though... :cop:

Not at all actually. The Lava ELC is about the price of a monster cable and is a lot nicer. Ive seen guys there with full vandenhul rigs though which is crazy. If youve got the money though it couldn't hurt.

yeah if i was a billionaire, then throwing away a couple of million wouldn't hurt either. Having a lot of money to spend doesn't excuse this uninformed buying practice, which is in essence what it is -- extremely uninformed and naive.

I was referring to specific TGP individuals who assert that good sound is equivalent to the cost of the cable, which is baloney. I could quote those claims for you, but i wouldn't want to waste my time and i think you could easily find them yourself :thu:

I order my cables from this site. He does excellent work, uses high quality components and his prices are very reasonable. And I don't work for him or get anything out of people buying from him.

My friend has some bayou cables. I think his long cable prices are cheaper than Lavas last time I looked but his patch cables were like $1 more. The cables were definitely good quality though.

I'm not calling you stupid, but i think you are plenty smart enough to be able show the sonic difference between a cheap $20 cable and a $100 cable. These claims are made all the time and are based on nothing but hype and personal bias. People say, "i use my ears," and that's fine for you maybe but is insufficient to make a generalization. Problem is if you give the same cables to another person, he'll probably say, "i don't hear the difference." And you gave these to another guy and he'll say, "the cheaper cables sound better than the expensive one," at which time you'd be scratching your head in confusion.

oh and btw, I'm not saying an expensive cable can't sound better or superior sonically, but no one seem to be able to prove this to me   How am I supposed to make an informed decision when i don't have the necessary data? Until then i'll just make my own cables at $10 a pop and save the other $90 for some nice sashimi. I know those taste good. :)

Word. Its all personal preference. I like things bright and clear which sometimes makes a difference with cables. The canare I use now is pretty dark so replacing the three cables in my board snake with ELC will probably change that a little. Other people like dark sounds with a bright guitar like a tele so a long ass high capacitance cable is totally right for them. But really, Im just a sucker because the cable is red ;)

I'm about to do just that. Went to a local shop that makes custom racks and junk and bought wire, shrink wrap, and connectors to make a bunch of my own. And a little solder fumes is good for your health, righto?
