Well, its not finished yet, but im in the process of building my own pedal board, so i was wondering what some of you all thought about these pedals, they are in order how my signal chain would go,

Dunlop Crybaby 535Q

Coffin Case BDFX-1 Blood Drive

Boss MT-2 Metal Zone

MXR M-109 6 Band Graphic Equalizer

Danelectro FAB Chorus

MXR Phase 90

MXR M-135 Smart Gate

Boss DD-3 Digital Delay

i play pretty much anything, a lot of prog and heavier stuff.

so what do you all think?

any suggestions of which pedals i should switch?

or do you think this is a good setup?

p.s.

this was my first post, so hi everyone!

Hi!

Looks good to me, I think you've got most of the bases covered there. What's the FAB Chorus like? I got the OD, Dist and Metal when they first came out and was pretty impressed with those for the price.

thanks for the quick reply!

the fab chorus is nice for what i use it for, mainly that thick, digitally noticeable chorus, but it can get you some nice subtle airy sounds out of it too. it has a mix control, which is something a lot of chorus pedals leave out, for $20 its a steal.

the only thing im worried about is the Coffin Case blood drive distortion, ive heard lots of good things, but havent been able to use one myself yet, so i think im gonna hold off on that one for a while.

I think you should consider getting only one high gain distortion and a medium gain OD or a fuzz (instead of getting both the mt-2 and the blood drive). That would be a more versatile setup, in my opinion. Depends on what kind of sound you are going for, of course.

i get that a lot, mainly because most people havent really heard a blood drive, its not nearly as "metal" as most people would imagine, but ive only heard it once, and still havent played it myself. so you do have a point.

ive been looking into some fuzzes though, something with a nice mid range, like a muff or a zvex, but the zvex is rather pricey, so im not sure.

of course, with the zvex, i could get a lot of those awesome muse tones that im looking for sometimes

Just a word to the wise, I had an MXR Smart Gate... and couldn't wait to get rid of the thing. Garbage.

I would highly suggest not getting that box. ISP Decimator if you need a gate.

that was my other choice, its more expensive, but ive heard more good things about it.

ill keep that in mind.

thanks everyone!
