MOds include TB, two blue LEDs, vocal mod, volume mod, midrange mod, adapter jack and red fassel inductor. The wah looks killer and sounds much how I remember my neighbor's 70's vox wah to sound like. My bass player heard it and thought I bought a new re-issue wah... and he could hear the difference and he's a bass player.

AFter I get some more parts I think I may still try the bass and gain mod. The volume mod makes this thing scream! If I don't want the boost I can control it w/ my compressor.

Thanks Lane! It was a lot of fun trying different resistors and such and listening to the pedal each time to hear how it affected the tone. A very satisfying experience as compared to shelling out a ton of cash on a boutique wah. Not that there is anything wrong w/ that though.

To my understanding they are the same shape. Just different pcb's, slightly different components and ac adapter jack.

Ahh yes, they are. I always looked at photo's and thought the 847 didn't have the slight angle in the pedal but I can see they're the same now.

Corduroy,

All Vox and Dunlop Wahs are the same casing, even older Thomas Organ Crybaby wahs.

Currently, all Voxes, Dunlops, and Buddhas are made by Dunlop as well.

If you look at the insides, the metal casing has the same part numbers as well (during metal casting process).

Inductors may or may not make a difference, depending on how "off" the current one is from your new one (Inductance and Resistance measurements).

Compared to the stock Vox Inductor, the Whipple gave it a warmer sweep and more of a fundamental note, pretty subtle though.

The Fulltone pot likes a pretty wide travel, so you need to be using medium or short rubber grommets (you can cut them with an exacto knife), not the full sized. Given that, it's got a good low end, wider sweet spot/slower transition from bass to treble, and smoother taper when compared to something like a Hotpotz II. The Hotpotz II transitions pretty quick from bass to treble, and has more of a dead spot at the heel end of the sweep where not much change occurs (it seems to do better with shorter mechanical travel).

The Polystyrene caps made the sweep a little clearer.

The Tropical Fish caps gave a slightly thicker quality to the sweep (subtle though).

The Transistor swap gave it a little more bass and midbass as well, slightly less high end.

Okay, you learn something new everyday! :thu:

to teh OP,this thread is {censored} without gut shots,it really is!

What the pretty blue LED doesn't do it for you? :poke: I'll add some in an hour when I get home from work.

I was thinking that same thing earlier and was hoping no one else had the same thought. ;)

Oh and btw, GO TO HELL FLANDERS! (nothing against you, Homer tells me to be mean to no-good Flanders)

WOW! Very nice! What difference did the whipple inductor and the fulltone pot make? I'm also interested in the caps you used... please do tell more!

In all honesty, for the most bang for the buck, you already accomplished that with the resistor swaps as mentioned on that page.

They give you the most noticeable change from stock for the least amount of $$ (although not exactly the most vintage tone, but certainly a noticeable change).
