Members kriista
So for the last 3-4 years I've always hovered around 7-8 pedals. I'm not crossing the 8pedal threshold so I'm curious as to how people handle this. I'll probably end up around 12pedals total, so not sure if it's worth it at that point to have 2 PP2, but for now I'm sitting on 9 pedals.Do you pedaltrain pro users use 2 powersupplies or daisychain after 8? Do certain pedals daisy-chain better than others? Or does it not matter?I'm just wondering if it would be better to daisy chain things like my tuner, delay, as apposed to the distortion type pedals. Would there be any difference in using a DCbrick as a 2nd supply instead of daisy chained, since it doesn't have isolated outputs?
Members Lanefair
I use a DC brick, and I wanted to daisy chain too but I chain'd my tuner and dirt pedals. I was too worried about current and hum to chain up my DD20 or Line6 pedals. As a rule of thumb, the pedals in front of the amp are more likely to take to daisy chaining than the pedals in the fx loop. Digital pedals are probably not the best to chain in any case. Members ChuckNorris1982
I used to power about 15 pedals from 1 PP2 with no problem. I grouped pedals in daisychains dependent on current draw and whether or not they played nice together in a chain.. All the dirt together. A couple of mod pedals together. Wah and Rotovibe together... Took a bit of trial and error but it worked out fine.
Members Faldoe
What pedals should be left to just the pp2 power? i.e. dirt, modulation, etc. I current have one daisy chain running off one output of the pp2+, I use it to power my tb looper, a/b box, tuner, 1 dirt pedal and wah. Members ChuckNorris1982
There aren't any hard and fast rules to this mate, you'll just find that some pedals are noisy when daisychained together and some aren't. I think each of the standard 9v outputs gives out a maximum of 100 milliamps, so it's important to remember not to exceed that. Dirt pedals rarely use more than 20ma each, so they're good oes to daisychain as long as they don't become noisy when you do so. Delays would generally need their own power output, as they'll use anything upwards of 50ma or so.
Members kriista
That's good to know that pairing them differently can get them to work better together. I figured it'd be hum or no hum regardless, depending on the pedal.
