Members catsandstrats
Gibson SG faded-->Behringer Blues Driver-->Tube Screamer--> Peavey Classic 30 Wow. I have owned probably 30 guitars, 10 amps and more pedals than I can even speak about. At one time I have owned Everything from 70's Fenders, to Les Pauls, to Robins, to PRS. I have played Rivera, Twins, Deluxe Reverbs, and Vox's....Never had a sound that I called my own, just copies of everyone elses sound. Additionally, I always had so much gear that I was just messing with gear. So I sold it all. All I had left was my acoustic. To start again, I didnt want to have more than $1000 in my whole setup, but I still wanted to play out if anyone asked me to. This is what I ended up with, and to my surprise, it is better than I have ever sounded. The cleans are not as good, and admittedly, the Rivera was a better amp, but I am so uncluttered now, I can actually make better music. Anyhoo. Members kevinsaari
Cool man. It's always a great feeling to feel content with your rig.
Members Zadoc
I can relate, man...I've only been truly happy with my sound in the past five years or so. I went through a lot of phases trying to have gobs of gain, lots of effects, until I started jamming with an old school punk rock drummer who wound up convincing me that less was more. Although I'm slowly building effects back into my sound, I'm approaching them a lot more tastefully than I did when I was in my early 20's. Similar thing happened to me. I played with John Bohlinger...he brings in his rig...it is a tele--->dynacomp--->tubescreamer---boutique overdrive??---Fender Blues Junior. This was the most amazing sounding rig I have ever heard. He had a volume and a wah in there somewhere...but that was it. I think I started selling stuff the next day.
