Two new pedals? Kinda, it's New Piano Day!

Ok, it's not new, actually it's closer to being 100 years old. Neither did I get it today, I've had it for about a week but today I fell completely in love with it. I should say, I can't play piano, I can barely play guitar.

My wrists are aching from trying to contort my hands into the chord shapes I'm reaching for, I know I'm doing it all wrong, but couldn't care less because I'm having so much fun.

I've stumbled across Imagine and bluffed some Karma Police, otherwise the key of C is pretty much my only friend. Any good sites to learn chords, theory or even songs from? It's tuned about 3/4 of a step flat too, so jamming along isn't possible.

Nice! I love piano. What did it set you back?

I'm more a chordal type player rather than a lead player, but I can play a bit. I recorded a Heintzman grand piano a couple of weeks back for our record--it sounded really good and turned out really well on the recording and I did 6 songs in 4 hours, mostly on first takes or 2 or 3 more tops. Piano is something where you really have to analyze it whether you should be behind the beat a bit to create more space, or right on top of it, almost percussively.

What I like about piano is that you have two hands to form chords, and that there's great sustain on every note. On guitar, there's always sustain issues the further that you move up the fretboard. Plus, I really like writing around piano....wrong notes in chords always seem to sound right. Well, sometimes they're atrocious, but I find myself lucking into happy accidents when writing on piano--weird chords that i'd have to contort my hands into arthritic positions in order to achieve. :)

Best of all it was free! It belonged to my in-laws and they wanted to clear some room, all I had to do was drive it away and pay the tuner guy.

I can see why writing on piano could become a habit, it's great fun just stacking notes for kicks and discovering chords.
