Members Holey Lint Trap
Please tell me why I should spend the extra 70 bucks on the 20xl over the Boss RC2. It just seems appropriate to post it today with all of the looping questions.

Members frankiej
think the XL has reverse..plus the layout seems to be simpler. Probably better for on the fly stuff. I love my rc-2 but it took me sometime to figure out all the controls and what not.

Probably better for on the fly stuff.I love my rc-2 but it took me sometime to figure out all the controls and what not. I dont really plan on using reverse loop anytime soon. I am mostly going to be laying down riffs to jam over and some song creation. But I just dont want to regret not buying the 20xl later if the rc2 isnt up to snuff. But from what i have heard, it is...
Members frankiej
to tell you the truth the only gripe i have about my Rc-2 isnt about the rc-2 itself but it seems to be picky about power. With my one spot i can power everything on my board without any noise but once i put the rc-2 i get a high frequency noise. Its not a big since i always have a track playing anyways, so i cant hear it until i shut off everything.
Members kevinsaari
At home: Go with the RC-2. Live/band situation: Go with the RC-20XL.

Members thezeng
yeah the rc-2 needs to be isolated, says that in the manual. well the rc20xl is basically the rc-2 with another footswitch - which you can get with the rc-2, and reverse. Members friction
In my mind the biggest advantage that the RC-20xl has over the RC-2 is the dual footswitches. Although I've been happy without it, you can buy an FS-5U to go with the RC-2 and still save about $50.
Members thezeng
why would you get an overpriced and oversized fs5u when you can get someone to make you a tiny tap tempo box for cheap

I don't know a whole lot about the little tap boxes, but FS-5's are like $20-25. Touche though, the homemade jobs never really occured to me

Hmmm...rc-2 getting mucho love. And I think owning a Big Muff and a DMM would pretty much kill any space concerns I would have.

I'm in the same boat with the 'muff and the DMM...I've got a lot of bigger pedals so I end up building my board around them. If you were to get a footswitch with the RC-2, you'll be using virtually the same amount of space that the RC-20xl would occupy give or take a little. Just depends on what suits you best and whether or not the extra $50-$70 is worth it to you.

Members thezeng
i can't find any pictures, but if you get one like the one on crdxshxmmy's (or however you spell it i always read it as crdhwhammy lol) board, that will save a heapload of space

Members thezeng
yeah cmog, a user on here, offered them to me for about $25 AU, which is $20 US, BUT thats in Australian prices where parts and (possibly labour) are way more expensive. all you need is a switch, jack, cables and casing and you should be good to go. i wouldn't say it would cost more than $15 if you did it yourself (someone on here would have a schem for a footswitch, its really easy) and its about 1/8 the size of a fs 5u

Members johnrambo
To turn off the loop with one tap instead of two. i've gotten kind of used to the double tap but i wouldn't want to try to pull it off "in time" during a live situation. i'd probably just put my tu-2 after it and use that to mute it. Members thezeng
i like the other stereo part, where you can scroll through saved phrases, that means if you loop a song, you don't need to do it in one massive phrase where if you messed up you're screwed
Members Jules-RM
I'm curious about one thing with the XL: can you use the add-on footswitch to switch to a new phrase and have it start seamlessly? I.E. different parts for a verse and chorus back to back without stopping playback.
Members Faldoe
Is there a minimum loop time for the RC-20xl? If not then it might replace my Jamman..
