Effects Used by "The Meeting Places"?

Curious if anyone knows what kind of effects they use, or if anyone's even heard of them?? The song "Now I Know You Could Never Be...". I think they disbanded, could be wrong as I quite often am?? They're very melodic, dreamy, organic, lush, fuzzy and warm sounding...beautiful music. I love bands like this. Radiohead, Sigur Ros, My Bloody Valentine and a bunch of other bands get somewhere in that tonal range and I'm just curious what kind of stuff you guys think they use? DMM's, Big Muffs, Chorus?? All the above?? I like it a lot.

check it out

I think their second album is better than the first, though the first one has more of your typical shoegaze sounds.

With the Meeting Places (and most of the modern shoegaze bands) I usually hear reverb on the cleans and fuzz/reverb/delay for the sound washes... at least that's how I get there. A mellow (not thick) chorus goes a long way too.

If you don't know of them already, check out Daydream Nation, the Daysleepers, and the Autumns' first full length album (the Angel Pool) for more of that more modern shoegaze thing. And of course, Slowdive... my favorite 1st wave shoegaze band.

Cool, I'll check it out. Funny, I know I've heard the term "shoegaze" but I never thought of some of these bands as that??

when I think of shoegazer, I think of Slowdive and their descendents (bands like bethany curve & the autumns' early material--with sound washes, ambience), but I think more of the bands from the original shoegaze scene were quite a bit noisier (mbv, swervedriver, ride, etc.). I wouldn't call radiohead or sigur ros shoegaze, but would call the ones I mentioned shoegaze. But who knows... music genres mean different things to different people and there's no point in trying to fit everyone in some kind of box, right?
