Members krisnrg
Hey guys what do you guys think about the fulldrive 2 mosfet. I have the opportunity to get this used for 115. I have on OCD coming this week and I'm wondering if they'll go good together. I have a Hot Rod Deluxe and a Ibanez 540s. Thanks guys
Members Servant
I'm not personally a fanthough i've owned an older version. Theone I had did not play well with others in my application - though it was very well built and seemed a decent deal for the price. $115 is pretty fair I'd say. Members AXEL276
From I understand the Fulldrive2 is pretty much an OCD with a second "boost" buttin. $115 is a good deal. I've been looking at the Xotic AC Plus which is very similar.

Members NoirAbattoir
I've owned 3 fulldrives over the years. The first two were older ones, the last one was the Mosfet version. The two older ones were excellent. the mosfet was not as good. It just didn't sound right to me.
Members DanJep
I had one and I liked it for a while. My tastes change and it didn't make the cut when I needed capital for new pedals. I'd do it for $115.
Members krisnrg
How can they be the same if the cost almost the same new? I'm still thinking about it. 115 for it is not bad... would anyone buy it off me if I dont like it? lol
Members krisnrg
I still dont know if i should pull the trigger. Right now I have an SD-1, DS-1 and the OCD thats coming. I should bump off the DS-1 for sure right?
Members RJpilot
A Fulldrive into an OCD is a good match. The SD-1 is very different from the FD-2 but if your simply using it for a boost then I would say just wait and see how you they sound. But yes the OCD will more than likely knock your DS-1 off the board. Heres a clip of the OCD boosted by the FD-2 in comp-cut (knob up) Its pretty rough.http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6395278 Was broke now workie. It essentially will give you 4 different dirt sounds with 2 pedals.
Members krisnrg
That's more like it, a reason to buy it. I haggled the guy down from 130. I'll just buy it a if I don't like it I'll flip it.
Members Mogwai
If you want a versatile TS type pedal with a built in clean boost at a good price then you might like it, especially at that price.
Members krisnrg
How good in the clean boost?
Members RJpilot
How good in the clean boost? Much better than the ds-1. But you can also really crank the comp-cut and really get hairy, and then you can boost that all on the same pedal. It also does the TS sound very well. What version of the OCD was that? I have the Fulldrive and your OCD sounds great with a Fulldrive boosting it. NEED!

Its boosted with a Flat-mids FD-2 (you know the one without the extra mini-toggles) It goes into My Bassman which is set volume 4ish bass and treble at 1/2. Speakers was Celestion Greenie mic'd with a 609 and 57. Reverb added in post.
Members newmaxnew
I use a fulldrive 2 and an OCD. The fulldrive is great for those just a little bit overdriven sounds. The OCD has way more gain and is good for more driven sounds. To me the OCD take off gain wise where the fulldrive leaves off. Max

The two older ones were excellent. the mosfet was not as good. It just didn't sound right to me. My experience was the exact opposite of this. My advice is to buy it and find out for yourself. It should be no problem to sell it for what you paid, or even a bit more if you don't like it. And to answer the clean boost question, in comp cut mode it does a very nice clean boost. Especially if you run it in 18v mode.

Members RJpilot
I like to run the OCD's gain at about 2-3 oclock, and then get the sustain back witht the boost. I find the when the OCD's gain is dimed it tends to sound very thumpy and overly bassy. 2 cents.

The OCD is one of the best pedals I own. I have never liked any of the Fulldrives, they do nothing for me. Get the OCD, it's cheap and takes up less space. Highly versatile. I use both and I would say the fulldrive is an overdrive pedal and the OCD is a distortion pedal (The D in OCD stands for distortion BTW). You just can't get that nice slighlty broken up sound from an OCD and you can't get real distortion tones from the fulldrive. Max
Members krisnrg
Well I just picked up the Fulldrive 2. It was the red 10th anniversary edition one. I haven't tried it but I figure if it doen't work too well with my setup I trade it for something else. It's in pretty good shape too.

FD2's, too... and I also have an older blue one. I like both, but the red mosfet one is quite a bit brighter sounding than the old blue one I have. Members krisnrg
The only thing that suck it that you can't use the clean boost by itself. That's pretty lame and was almost a deal breaker. But yeah I can't wait to go try it. The OCD came in and that thing is freaking amazing. I really dig that sound the distortions are crisp and clean. It feels like more of a distortion though. Kinda what I imagined the Crunch Box would be like.
