This came from Richard (the builder):
Brief Descriptions:

***all versions have controls for volume, input bias, and fuzz (except the AD2000 which has no bias control) - the bias control works in conjunction with the fuzz control to allow for many different textures/flavors of fuzz***

NPN - all silicon using BC108 and/or BC109 transistors. Most versatile of the of all the versions. Does near clean boost to gritty OD to crunchy distortion to all out fuzz.

PNP - similar to NPN, but uses a hybrid silicon/Germanium transistor set. Is a little darker/grittier than the NPN.

Classic - Fuzz Face circuit with Roger Mayer "Hendrix" mods, and added input bias control. All Germanium using AC128 transistors.

MKII - This is really the ToneBender MK 1.5 circuit(late 1990's reissue Sola Sound MKII also uses a similar circuit). It is a 2 transistor all Germanium circuit.

Angry Dick 2000 (AD2000) - Essentially a Jordan Bosstone clone. Mid rangy, gnarly, cutting fuzztone.

they pretty much sound the same because they essentially are the same as each other...

What I mean is that the BC108 and BC109 transistors are essentially the same thing... npn silicon transistors with the same/similar gain ranges. BC108's pretty much sound the same as BC109's, and I use these transistors in the Monsterpiece NPN fuzz. :)
