Members kriista
Does anyone actually like the music in any of the product demos? This mainly goes for roland/boss stuff but it's applicable to most big companies. Everytime I see a product come out and check out the demos I find myself having to imagine what it can actually do or soundlike. They always seem to demo the wrong features, and always in the most unlistenable fashion possible. You'd swear there's armies of fusion/prog/synth/crappydrumnbass/pop musicians banging on their door for more canned 'edgy car commercial' sounding stuff. Same goes for built-in sounds/samples etc.. I only own one product that comes preloaded with stuff (a roland SPD-S sampler) and holy crap do the built in sounds suck. The generic percussion is ok, but all the loops are stomach churning. I'm not sure what style of music it is, but its the same across all the roland/boss products. This tv commerial, progressive, drum n bass, amalgamation that seems to suck a bit of your soul out just by listening to it. Or is it just me? Members whm
Not just you man. kills me too. this is what i would like to see from roland/boss in a product demo: Use one of their own loopers, loop a guitar riff, play said guitar riff into new (probably {censored}ty) dirt pedal. Now get down on the floor and turn the knobs on that pedal to show us what it can do at various gain stages, etc. play some blues. play some funk. don't just play 80ies hair metal riffs

Members kriista
It wouldn't be so bad if it was just hair metal. It's the thrown in canned jungle beat, with the disco funky bassline, and miamivice keyboard backing that puts it over the top for me. Don't get me wrong though, hair metal sucks too. Members veil
Hey come on now, Johnny DiMarco is pure grade A comedy gold! Hey, no one's saying otherwise! He's like if the Mayor of Comedy walked into your living room, dropped trou, and took one of his solid gold dumps on your floor and said, "Here you, guitarists. This is exclusively for you." Members kriista
Youtube has been a godsend for checking out new gear. Not much selection of gear in the local shops here unfortunately. So its word of mouth/forum/youtube for gear selection for me.
Members Jules-RM
Clips and presets are made for people who have just picked up a guitar or are about to. They are not for actual working musicians. It's their marketing team that chooses the clips, not the unit designers. Their best marketing for actual musicians is having a lot of recording artists using their stuff in recordings/live shows, and they know it.
