"Science is Bad"

Very presumptuous of you. It's very easy to judge people as "ignorant" when you don't agree with them. It takes the whole proving a point thing off the table. Not very scientific of you, if I might venture.

I use the term "belief" because many scientific theorys require a certain amount of "belief" because the science doesn't exist yet to prove the theory. Global warming for example.

The battle between science and religion is so (besides the antithetical views - creationism vs evolution) because of the shadow projection aspect of it. Science -not it's good aspects but what can happen as a result of a scientist being human is that some can morph their theories into beliefs and dogmas. Scientists get so pissed at the religious because they see that potential deficient as aspect of themselves in the dogmatists of religion.

When quantum theory started to gain momentum main traditional physicists were pissed cause it threated their world view and all the work they put in and would cause even more work to be done. Science at it's best encompasses many of the aspects you posters have been citing - scientific method, open minds and the ability to leave old views behind when new data suggests a different approach or explanation.

Equally are the religious fissy at the scientists because the religious have this feeling (often unconscious and therefore resulting in the projection) that their view may be flawed, that they don't have all the answers and that threatens them, that they are living a lie.

Yes Jules to your second paragraph.

About the same sentiment here.

Creationism is theology, not science. I'm a theist and accept evolution, but wouldn't dare to try and pass off my belief that God created evolution as scientific fact.

You've been on one of those tours, haven't you?

do we really have to play out the Flat Earth Theory ONE MORE TIME?

just let the scientific experts take care of the factual aspects and creationists/dogmatists can find their comfort in the shortcomings of the human spirit. we need both camps to remind us of our grand humility in all ways spiritual and cosmic.

Of course global warning is proved, you only have to look at the average temps over the years to see that it's happening. I don't really think there is much we can do about it.....slow it down a little maybe, but it's been going on as long as the planets been around. heat up, cool down, heat up, cool down. I believe we are speeding up that natural warming that we are going through now, but nothing we can do will stop it. By slowing it as much as we can at least it will give us more time to prepare for it and hopefully science can help in some areas.

I agree, but are you saying man is not that cause? - I agree with that - increased Solar output.

Global warming is happening but how much is man's influence? This doesn't mean I think we should just keep using oil and stupid {censored} like that, NO. Yes we pollute and do all kinds of terrible things but are all the facts in yet to confirm that man has caused the warming....?

I know this guy who I went to school with, he's a neo-nazi skinhead, he seems nice enough, always says hello to me and always maintained that he 'wasn't like the others' 'wouldn't do any to harm anyone without reason' etc etc, but that fact of the matter is, underneath he is still a facist and a supporter of national socialism.....deep down he has beliefs that are totally opposed to mine and I find that hard to deal with. Not because he has different views, I have no problem with individual thought and opinion, but because the views he has totally sicken me.

it's kind of hard not to paint people with the same brush when they choose of thier own freewill to accociate themselves with particular groups. I don't subscibe to any organisation, be that political, religious or social and if someone chooses to, then they must accept that they will be seen as a part of that group. If you don't want to be assosiated with these people, why call yourself a christian?

pease don't take this as an attack, I'm just trying to explain why people do 'paint people with the same brush' it's because you choose to be in the picture they are painting with it.

Dude, do NOT call me a {censored}ing Nazi just because I have a belief that you don't. You are as bad as those nutcases everyone is bitching about in this thread. You can't be full of {censored}ing judgement and condemnation of people you don't know a thing about... that's what fundies do. Oh, and by the way, it's exactly what christians believe you MUST NOT do, "Judge not that ye not be judged."

There are many kinds of christians and variations of christian belief and doctrine. Not everyone is alike. Honestly, you should be embarrassed to speak with so much obvious ignorance. In this day and age, there is so much information to sort through before you can start making up your mind, you really need to look at things from an informed position with an open mind. It's not all your fault, Lord knows our contemporary society conspires to keep us all ignorant but you have to fight that and gain knowledge; ultimately we are responsible for our own actions and inactions.

But honestly, bro, you sound as ignorant as these religious fanatics. American Evangelicals are a small percentage of the world's 1.3 billion christians and most christians believe they tend to deviate from orthodoxy (little "o" vs. big "O") in many areas. Unfortunately, in the States, they get all the press with their absurd shenanigans. You gotta understand one thing about the evangelical movement, it is equal parts politics and theology; a dangerous mix.

If you want to fight it, get informed and think things through. These guys are fighting knowledge because they need an army of non-free thinkiers. Don't be like them.
