Members R Corso
I was thinking about putting an EQ pedal in my chain, for special notch effects and general, well, eq'ing. The only one I've ever seen is the Boss graphic eq, and an Arion. Are there any others? I should say, I am not looking for the "cocked wah" sound especially, but a good, broadly useful EQ. Members TheGareth
You can get several MXR EQ pedals, a Behringer EQ pedal and Danelectro make a great EQ pedal called the Fish n Chips. I'm sure there are loads more though.

Members melx
Is the Boss EQ pedal the only one worth having? no, i'm my opinion it's the worst I've owned.

Members melx
The Dod Fx40b is a brilliant eq (and the best I've owned) but sadly no longer made, but they do come up on ebay. The MXR is nice and the Dano F&C is a totally bargain and very good also. People on here have modded boss ones and apparently this improves them, but I wouldn't bother. the dano and the dod can be picked up on ebay for much less. Members Agreed
I prefer the Danelectro Fish n' Chips. It has the lowest noise floor of any EQ I've tried, even at high level or treble settings. Don't be scared by the plastic - it's very tough plastic, more like what's on a car than what's covering your Playstation 2.
Members R Corso
The MXR doesn't have a switch, that's dumb...disqualified. Anybody else? Who's got the modded Boss EQ, and what does the mod attempt to fix?

Members 66_skylark
Ibanez PQL. They haven't been made in over 20 years but they are available on EBay once in a while. My all-time favorite and I've tried many.

Members Jules-RM
The MXR ten band is good for bass (I use it for my bass VI), but it's a little overkill for guitar as far as frequencies go, but the gain and volume controls make it worth it. Members hydegroove137
i use the boss eq through my effects loop on my rig---all the pedals i run straight through the front---very masssive--and helps the soundman out a great deal depending on if you have a too low or too high ranged amp---one of my favs

Members guitarman_nebr
i use the Behringer EQ. (i know, i know) but it is a nice eq!! i too will say you can trust the plastic casing, but it is the switch that scares me. now, i don't use the switch much. the eq stays on in the effects loop all the time the amp is on. the Behringer is really quiet and does a great job. if you are going to be using the switch alot maybe a more expensive pedal will have a stonger switch. i don't know. i do know that the modded GE-7 Boss is much quieter and will last much longer. check out humphrey audio on ebay, Mark is a friend of mine and does great mods. spend a few extra $ and you won't be sorry. good luck
Members phyrexia
the behringer eq is not a "nice" EQ. nothing behringer makes is "nice". it is all "value-priced".

Members mynameistaken
The boss made more sense for me. It runs on 9v and works very well in the loop. Fits better on my board too.

The Behringer EQ was silent whereas the GE-7 squealed for me. Not "nice" construction comparatively speaking but it sounded better. Only annoying thing about the Behringer is there was no centre notch for unity. Behringer may make some crap, but a few of their products are very nice
Members Northstar
I use the Yamaha NE-1, designed specifically for Nathan East. It's for bass but I use to good effect on electric and acoustic guitar.
Members R Corso
Does anybody know if the MXR switch is quiet, or does it pop? You guys are great, by the way, I didn't expect this subject to generate much interest.
