Members ChuckNorris1982
I've never been a fan of chorus, particularly the obviously digital sounding chorus sounds. I did once upon a time have a Danelectro Cool Cat and an original Electro Harmonix Clone Theory, and I did like the slow detune sounds I could get from these, particularly the EH. Will the CE-2 cop similar tones to either of those? Also what is the going rate for them? Is the CE-2 really the chorus pedal to make a chorus hater like chorus? Members frankiej
i got mine for 80 shipped but they seem to go for alittle higher. As for the chorus it self, its pretty good...the only word i could use to describe it is airy. It gives you a spacious kinda tone. If you check out the youtube vid of mine the back tracking was done with my Ce-2. Theres also this:
Members ReckedTrek
The CE2 (modded) is David Gilmour's default chorus pedal. Even if his has been modded and you get a stock one, the sound is pretty close. Very warm, analog chorus. The MIJ black labels cost the most (around $100-$150), then green label MIJ ($80-$100) and finally MIT which cost the least ($60-$90). I've never compared them so I don't know if anyone can say if it's true and by how much. I have a black label MIJ which I bought from a forumite. I love it. Members ChuckNorris1982
Hmmmm, interesting. I've got a line on a dirt cheap MIJ (not sure which colour sticker) so I may end up with one very soon.

Members josh27
Stick with your gut. Chorus sucks.Give it up man. Every thread about chorus you feel the need to say how it sucks. We get it. It isn't your thing. It just gets tiring, you know?

Members ChuckNorris1982
I've never liked that cheesey 80s shimmery chorus thing, but I love vibrato and I like the seasick analogue chorus thing, so we'll see how I find it.

Have you tried a small clone? It is great for the heavy seasick stuff. I haven't used a CE-2 though. Hope you like it!
Members ChuckNorris1982
I have tried a small clone and for some reason I just didn't like it. No harm done if I don't like the CE-2, I'll easily sell it on if I need to.
Members friction
It's supposed to be close to the same circuit that they used in the Jazz Chorus Amp and the CE-1. I've never been big into chorus either, but after I had a friends JC-120 Jazz Chorus at my house for a while I found a little more love for it. Assuming that they do in fact employ a similar circuit, you should be able to get that slow detuned swirl.
Members dangerous dan
The CE-2 is quite a nice pedal, I don't really like chorus but I find it quite useful sometimes. And it does soudn pretty good.
Members ChuckNorris1982
It's definitely MIJ, but I haven't yet received an answer on whether it's a black or green label version. It looks pretty scruffy, but I'm fairly sure most of it is dirt rather than paint chips. We'll see though

Members vanguard
hate to be a bad news bear, but if you didn't like the small clone and you don't like shimmery 80's chorus, you are gonna hate the ce-2. i sold mine because it was SO shimmery and thin sounding. very airy, light, 80's chorusing. the small clone is light-years better for the detuned, warm, full analog chorus sound. Members Flaser_Phanger
Here's a comparison of all the different chorus ensembles (with sound samples) http://www.elisanet.fi/flaser_phanger/chorus_ensemble.htm hope this helps.
Members ChuckNorris1982
That's really, really useful, thanks mate. I actually really like the 'strong chorus' sound on that demo, so I'm pretty sire I'll find a use for this.
