Perfect (but not quite perfect) pedals?

I'm sure I can't be the only instincively cynical one here to see that the glass is always half empty when it comes to most things, in this case fx pedals?

I don't get it, if a pedal is fine at what it does, I don't think anything of it. It's good, I like it, great. But if there's a pedal that I really love I just can't help but find a fault with it!

My main case being the Carl Martin Surf Trem. This is the pedal that really opened my ears to what good quality sounds like. It's a simple, thick sounding triangle wave tremolo effect. It's pretty slinky, and it's even a reasonable price but... IF YOU COULD ONLY BLOODY WELL SHAPE THE BASTARD WAVE I WOULD NEVER WANT ANOTHER TREMOLO PEDAL BUT YOU CAN'T GODDAMN IT WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?

I don't want to cheat on my sweetheart and get another tremolo pedal but it's so near yet so far!

Does anyone else suffer from this borderline psychotic disorder, or is it just me?

EHX The wiggler

you're welcome (a pulsar is fine too).

for me, the DS-1 needs to have more boost and i'd actually be able to use it.

WHY NOT BOSS?

and this wah without a switch that i played was the best sounding i've heard, but you can't really stay still on it without it turning off.. wtf

I have the exact opposite problem with the Colorsound Tremolo, amazing sound but no softer triangle wave.

Nah. I own a stereo pulsar that I'm selling, as I've been spoilt with the quality of the Surf Trem. Yes, you can shape the wave and have a square but it's just not the same.

I'd get a Catalinbread Valcoder for my square wave needs if I can find one in the UK, but as for my rising or falling sawtooth/triangle dilemma....
Well, there's the Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter but...:blah::blah:

sometimes I wish I had another knob for tone shaping on my RAT. Sometimes it just takes off too much of the highs and it gets too muffled sounding. If I get could that midrange marshall sound with the filter at 1 or 2 and still get some high end presence, it'd be wonderful. And if it was a little less fuzzy sounding, maybe even too buzzy at higher gains. I guess I almost wish it was a different pedal... I think like I said though, a little bit more high end presence would probably have me settled on it.

Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic...

Tubes. Warm. Two channels. EQ. A lot of output. Marshall-esque tone.

16V WALL WART POWER SUPPLY!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I can even deal with the size... but I'm thinking of letting it go because of the stupid adapter.

....on just about any OD/Dist pedal, the addition of a clean/blend knob (like Sparkledrive, Dano Wasabi) would be great.... get a bit of body back into your signal.

While I'm on the subject, the Dano Wasabi pedals would be much improved if they'd do away with the shape - pedal is shaped like a VW beetle hood, with a footswtch on either side - because of the shape I keep going for the pedal and missing. Definitely one for a rehouse

Boss OC-3 - Slight delay in switching on and off

Boss DD20 - Could really do with better dual delay features like the ones on he GT-8

Digitech Bad Monkey - This is a minor minor gripe, but if it had an active mid control too is would kick ass and I would buy a 2nd one for solos

Line6 Tonecore Pedals - They add something noticably digital to the singal, not nearly as bad as you think, but it's there. Also the blend knob always seems to be useless until 2 o clock then it gets too much (on the verbzilla and echo park

MXR Blue Box - Not loud enough, and a 1 octave option would kick ass

Boss RC-2 - An option to overdub the second you finish the first loop would make it perfect.

EHX Q-Tron - Boost mode is pointless because it affects the sensitivity

Compressors - They increase the noise floor, it's not their fault, but it's a big enough reason for me to not use one any more.

Boss GT-8 - Amp sims just aren't good on the fly, you really have to tweak it to use it with a PA.
