I have the Righteous Tones Sonic Mayhem...great pedal so far. True bypass, cost me $75 new.

I admit I am not a fuzz guy, I bought it mostly on impulse to have something else besides straight distortion in my chain...but it's been growing on me. Finding stuff to play on it that I wouldn't on my regular distortion box.

The true bypass part is great...just leave it in my chain and switch it on/off when I need it, does not affect my tone when off.

It's worth considering what kind of fuzz you're after- there are lots of classic designs that sound very different to one another. The three "classics" are probably the Big Muff, Tonebender and Fuzz Face, although there are lots of others worth considering- Fender Blender, Octavia, Roland BeeBaa, Shi-ei Companion, Maestro Fuzz-Tone, Lovetone Big Cheese, ZVex Fuzz Factory, Mosrite Fuzz-Rite, Jordan Bosstone... Although originals of most of the vintage designs will set you back a LOT of money, there are near or exact clones of most of them available for a lot less (Monsterpiece have a very good reputation around HC for making great Fuzz Face, Jordan Bosstone and Tonebender clones reasonably cheaply, and possibly even Big Muffs if you ask nicely), and DIY kits to build several of them.

DIY is fun, and fuzz pedals are a pretty good place to start since they're usually really simple. General Guitar Gadgets is one option, another is BuildYourOwnClone, who have Fuzz Face, Tonebender, Octavia and Big Muff kits- their Tonebender and Fuzz Face kits have recently been upgraded with all top-notch components, and the Big Muff kit has a 4-way tone switch that selects stock (scooped mids), flat mids, mid boosted and tone bypass.

I can vouch for the quality of BYOC's kits and their excellent, clear instructions.

Dude, it's only been a day. The search for fuzz is a journey, not a destination.

Damn man, give me a minute to think that my pedalboard is complete. ;)

But the Hyperion gives me the tone I've wanted. I've had a J. Everman fuzz, and the Foxrox CC2, but this new one is it! (for now).
