Members attic
So, I just tried out some new pedals (there's thread about it already (moog ring mod and EHX SMMH)) and I noticed my guitar is giving loads of buzz. Not string buzz, I already took care of that with a new bridge, but electronic buzz... It goes away when I touch my strings or touch any piece of metal that is connected. (Amp metal, stomps,...)I have single coils, I know, but the buzz was never this loud. And it's not because of the pedals. It's even there when I play directly through my twin... Anyone know what to do? Is this a grounding problem? thanks!

Members HeartfeltDawn
Where was your Jazzmaster made? USA or Japan? On my Japanese JM, the grounding wire is underneath the vibrato plate. It's held down by a staple. I got a bad buzz and found the wire wasn't as much in contact with the plate as it should have been. I unscrewed the plate, brought a little more wire out and exposed, wrapped a little more over the staple and then retightened the vibrato plate screws. All was cured. Members Liberty Belle
when you use single coils and a dirt pedal and dont touch metal,it buzzes and its totally normal. even my humbucker guitars do it and they are well grounded. if it buzzes when you ARE touching it then theres a problem. Yeah, I've noticed that, but it's always pretty minimal. This one buzzes without any pedal (not even a dirt). I thought I'd open it after the advice of our good friend here, but I'm going to play on safe and take it to the guitar shop tomorrow. (liftetime warranty )They always set my guitar up pretty nice for free anyway, so a visit to the shop is always welcome after a year or so...
