i'm a long time behringer hater. i've said for years that the only thing i'd own of theirs was their cable tester. tried a lot of stuff of theirs over the years, always under-impressed. recently, this has changed. i have 3 pedals at my house i'm gonna hold on to.

vd400 - good. not great, but for the price, amazingly good. can't compete in many areas against some of my favorite analog delays. but for an analog delay pedal at it's price, it's pretty darn good. it produces a fuzzier analog delay than most. I won't say it's warmer per se compared to others, cos imo it's not. i'll say it's warm and fuzzy and a good buy. oscillates nicely as well. wish there was a "trails" switch or something so when i deactivated it, it'd still trail off while i was playing, but hey. it's much more valuable than its selling price already.

cc300 - so far, i really like it. it's a nice, warm sounding chorus. shimmers nicely. lacks a little on the low end. i don't think it's settings are really all that different from each other, in any combo. not in the grand scheme. so it's a one trick pony. and does it very well for the price.

sf300 - i just like having an array of fuzzes. this one is just ok really. i only use the 2nd setting. the gain boost setting, garbage imo. maybe ok as a bass boost if you're looking for that. setting 1 just sounds too thin to use compared to setting 2. i don't think it does what it's description says: "re-creates the whole variety of famous fuzz tones from the

The DR100 sounds pretty decent. All the settings are usable (although some need to be cranked more than others) and it's actually a fairly warm digital reverb. My biggest complaint is the little plastic knobs. It isn't a matter of if they will break off as much as when (hopefully not at a gig). Perfectly alright for $30, though.

Behringer Vintage Phaser: Sounds great. Definitely a cheap Small Stone clone but it sounds good and gets the job done.

Behringer Noise Reducer: Realized I did not even like/need a noise reducer pedal after using this. Also, made a fizzy distorted sound when playing clean.

I bought the super fuzz. It's an ok fuzz and a decent clean boost too. Not very polyphonic, though some fuzzes aren't. Towards the end of the natural decay of the note, it starts to fade into this really awesome sputtery sound. I wish it could get this sound right when I hit the strings, but I suppose that's the difference between a $30 generic fuzz and a $250 Zvex fuzz factory.

I'm thinking of picking up the rotary pedal as well as the bass synth pedal. Maybe a cheap octave down pedal too.

I would concur with the GDI-21 review. If you expect perfect tube tone from it, you'll be disappointed: but listened to on its own merits it makes some very nice sounds. Although it has a built-in speaker simulation that can't be switched off, with tweaking it can also work in front of the clean channel of an amp.

Other pedals I have known:
(All of the below carry my usual health warning re Behringers about weak, plastic pots - do not expect them to survive rough use. Fine for home/studio fiddling, not for the road unless you re-house imho)

BEQ700 (Bass graphic EQ) - pretty much clones the BOSS unit, does what it says on the tin. Can't complain for the price, but not exciting. Tip: because it gives a lot of tweaking potential in the lower mids, it makes an interesting boost in front of an OD pedal or an amp's dirty channel.

DD100 Digital delay - again, works but not very exciting. Actually less exciting. Probably obsolete now anyway.

UM300 Ultra Metal [Note, there have been a few ultra metal pedals, check the model number] - Better than the name would suggest. The sound is one-dimensional, but the EQ section is very good. +-15 on low and high, *and* +-15 on a sweepable mid. The sweepable mid lets you dial in a wide range of sounds from ultra-scooped thrash (bleh freak.gif) to OTT screaming leads. Not really a "bread and butter" pedal but a lot of fun to play with and the sort of thing that may inspire some ideas to take back and play through your "proper" gear wink.gif

WD300 Warp distortion - Terrible name, but interesting pedal. Not as much scope for sound tweaking as there is no normal EQ (not even tone): instead you get a so-called "warp" knob which is actually better called "contour" since it morphs from a low-mid boost (at minimum) to a slight mid scoop (at max.) There is also a "sub" switch which boosts the low end to add "chug".
The higher 'warp' settings might disappoint those looking for scooped tones, since it doesn't scoop that much - of course personally I approve of this cop.gif- but the lower settings are quite warm, almost overdrive-y. Rewards some patient experimentation. But it does not sound 'warped' in the sense of 'strange' or 'extreme', so don't be mislead by the name - this is just a good, cheap distortion pedal.

Final note: all the Behringer pedals I have had or used so far have worked fine and none have died on me - but they have all been handled with kid gloves. The only issue out of the box I have experienced was with the warp distortion, which had a dirty pot that was cured by application of cleaner and judicious wiggling.

Btw: I suggest that posters also mention what big brand pedal the behringer model attempts to clone, if they know.

For example, the GDi21 is a clone of the Tech21 sansamp. The Bass graphic EQ obviously clones the boss pedal of the same name.

GDI21 is excellent. I have the Sansamp GT2...and the Behringer does hold its own against the more expensive GT2! The Tweed mode is fun. Very clean sound. Never harsh.

ADI21 is another winner. I use it for my acoustic Violin fitted with a piezo. Made my Violin tone sound so warm and sweet. The extremely powerful Mid range sweep is heaven sent! I can get many tones from this unit.

Behrginer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive. This pedal sounds good to my ears and works well as a stand alone distortion or boosting an already overdrive amp. Not a lot of volume on tap and you have to crank it quite a bit. I don't sense that much noise from it. It was only

I have the GDI21 and will agree with what everyone else said- I've had the G2 and the Behringer does hold it's own against it-

didn't like the behringer eq- way noisy and real cheap feel, even compared to other cheapies line the dano minis-

Similar experience with the noise reducer. I have got it to gate some hiss, but the sound degradation is far too extreme for this to be usable.

DD-400 digital delay - Quite happy with this. For the price, it sounds fine, and it's very functional.

TO-800 - Tubescreamer clone, I assume. I'm really very happy with this. It sounds great - Fat tone, and a decent amount of gain. It doesn't have much volume, as previously said, but isn't noisy as such. It is my go-to for lead playing, and I like it a lot. Couldn't ask for more for the price.

I'm intrigued by the small stone and dynacomp clones; Anyone any experience with the latter?

I have one on ebay now, will pull the auction for a fourmite, probably not worth sending abroad though, but could probably work something out for UK, Euro peeps. thumb.gif

I'm still amazed at the VD400 for the price. I reckon in the UK the cheapest analog delay that we could get previously was over
