Members mark7171
just some LED's in a small enclosure, or built into a patch cable, to display current strenght. line level is important and i need to know what pedal is or isnt getting fed properly. what do you use? what do you suggest? should i build it in a "peep" enclosure tool ? using the colored LED level inicator strips from mouser's ? not a true bypass on /off circuit, but a small removeable tool, to use for this unity utility purpose. Members j_hotch
I've been looking into building a similar level meter into my pedal setup. I've found a some promising kits but it looks like you would have to build your own enclosure. My plan was to get a stereo VU-level meter LED kit and feed the left side of the meter with a dry signal tap before any effects and feed the right side of the meter with a tap after all of my effects to compare wet/dry signal levels as I turn effects on and off. However, I wasn't really concerned about keeping the signal at line level. In your case, the real issue would be correctly calibrating the meter. You've got to find a source that outputs a reliable line-level signal and then calibrate the meter to show the correct reading at that level.
