It was only a matter of time before I took it this far. Who is rockin' the RC Boost?

My clean boost fetish:

What can I expect? How much gain does the gain knob actually have? I really like the way clean boosts drive a tube amp, so I don't really need or want much gain, just curious. I've been through a ton of clean boosts over the years. I really like the versatility this one may have due to all the controls.

Hey FireInCairo,

I rock the Xotic RC Booster!! Expect to get a 20 db clean volume boost. I run mine through the effects loop of my VHT Pitbull 45/12 combo amp onstage and that thing cuts through the band with no problem, much to the dismay of other guitarist. :) You can use the EQ to make it match up with your guitar or to make it more trebly or fatter sounding when the boost is engaged. The pedal is true bypass and has a good sound when it's off.

Nice, I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this pedal.

I'm probably going to get an AC boost first, then the RC boost. I'm in Dire need of a dirt box without a midrange hump to it. The RC boosts are great though. My buddy uses one for his AC30 and it adds just the right amount of everything to his tone. The switch broke on his and it is stuck "on" all of the time, but he never fixed it because he doesn't need it to go "off." And he is a mad sumbitch with a solder gun.

I intend to use mine as a lead boost on the overdrive channel, and as another flavor overdrive on the clean channel, though it seems the EQ will be nice to use in conjunction with a fuzz, maybe. :chinscratchy:

Say you want a thin, tinny transistor sound with your fuzz. I'm betting you could set the RC's level to unity gain and roll up the treble and roll down the bass controls. :morechinscratchy:

Awesome. I'm sure that will sound killer

Yeah, I loaded the thing up with some lower gain NOS preamp tubes for the overdrive channel and it now sounds a lot like the bassman clean side, just hopped up a bit. I'ma gonna slam with the RC boost to get some more sustain and crunch.
