Members TheGareth
Today I got a new pedal!!!! In the beginning I wanted a Small Fry but they had sold out by the time I'd ordered so I did a little research and it seems that the Direct Drive is pretty much the next best thing without spending loads on the Burn Unit. So, my amp only has one channel and this pedal is perfect for dirty sounds and it cleans up pretty well when I roll back the guitar's volume control. I set my amp clean now and will be using this pedal for all my overdriven sounds. There's lots of gain from this pedal but not heavy metal levels. It is just the right amount for me however. The cool thing about the DD is that you can pull out the tone knob for more mids and harmonics, which is a great but just playing without this is also cool. I'd recommend this pedal if you want low to mid gain. It sounds natural too, which is always good. I guess that you could also use this unit as a boost to an already dirty amp. Yes the Rat is a pedal that always gets mentioned here - I'll have to try it out in the future.... However, for now, I'm happy with the DD.
