Members Vince
At Brixton Academy and damn they were good!! The new guitarist (Luther Dickinson) was playing some great lead and slide all night long, Chris' voice was on good form, and the keyboard player was fine too!Looked like an early JCM800 alongside a plexi for Luther Dickinson and a Harry Joyce and a Plexi for Rich. Gold Top Les paul, Zematis, 335 and Tele's (with mini humbucker in the neck) for Rich Whilst Luther Dickinson was rockin' multiple Les Pauls, Strats and Teles.Couldn't see the pedal boards (sorry) but I think Luther had a King of Tone unless you can think of another purple pedal with 2 sets of big black knobs? No, neither can I!Oh yes, the setlist:Wounded BirdSting MeWah led Instrumental JamBlack Moon CreepingSeeing ThingsWalk believer WalkPoor Elijah (A Robert Johnson number I think)My Morning Song with an extended jam in the middle going into I wish I was a Catfish, back into My Morning Song.Wiser TimeBy Your SideOh JosephineHuge feedback/volume swells with delay intro into Thorn in My Pride with Drum solo and Harmonica Solo.Goodbye Daughters of the revolutionJealous againRemedy (Huge) Encore:God's got itI Don't Know why (From Clapton's first solo album apparently)Sometimes Salvation. Members Instrospection
I gotta pick up the new one--correction: i've gotta find the new one! I went to two local stores here and neither had it. Of course there's online, but I generally like to stroll into a store and buy the cd.... Did you hear about that Maxim review of "Warpaint"? It was proven that the review was given without even hearing it. So much for that assumption that some critics give reviews where I wonder if they listened to it at all.... Listening to it at the moment and it will take more time, but it's going to be hard to top their 1st two albums!
Members orourke
I saw The Black Crows back in October. I'm not really a big fan, my wife and I just decided to go to a rock show. We were both pretty impressed, great show, great singing and guitar playing. I did a review of it back than if anyone is interested so I post a link. http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1789725&highlight=black+crows
Members RoboPimp
yeah, the black crowes are one of the best live bands ever IMO. Incredible tones and guitar riffs, and some seriously soulful vocals for a white boy.

Listening to it at the moment and it will take more time, but it's going to be hard to top their 1st two albums! I may be in the minority, but I really love "Amorica", and that's probably my fave--the sound of it is all tape saturated and analog-y and I like the latin percussion and latin feel at times. "Wiser Time" is awesome. "By Your Side" was incredibly underrated, too.
Members Bruno
I thought Rich had a Showman on top of the Harry Joyce now too.... I know that Wayne over at Headstrong amps is working on a couple of new amps for Rich. I think that he has been using the Headstrongs for some time now
Members TheAtomicJeff
but it's going to be hard to top their 1st two albums! IMO, that was done with their two successive albums.

Members Vince
no hard to handle or she talks to angles? Yup, no Hard to Handle! When they finished, everyone couldn't believe that they hadn't played it and expected them to come back on for another encore.
Members TheAtomicJeff
The Crowes are well known for changing up their setlist every night. I find it very refreshing that a band is so willing to dig into their deeper cuts on the road instead of giving their fans the same ol' tired setlist tour after tour. It says a lot that they can be so rehearsed to play almost their entire catalog. So I'm ok with a show that would omit such Crowes "staples" as HTH and STTA. I agree with Introspection in that the By Your Side release is very underrated.
Members dangerous dan
Sounds like a good gig, I've been a long time Black crows fan, I remember seeing them in '92 when they toured shake your moneymaker (makes me feel real oold !!), my first gig. Members rileykill
I was a total Crowes desciple in high school but I haven't seen those guys since the By Yout Side tour. I would think Luther D. would really help out the live show ... from what I heard losing Marc Ford (for what, the third time?) was a pretty big blow to the tours. Members TechBrother
I've seen the Crowes twice and they put on one hell of a show! I would love to see them and them not play H2H or Talks to Angels... that's the best Crowes show you could ask for. AND LUTHER DICKINSON!!! HOLY {censored} {censored}! I didn't know he was playing w/ the crowes. I've seen his band North Mississippi Allstars about 10 times and Luther is the man. I could imagine him being a great fit with them. Was the show very loud? My only complaint w/ the Black Crowes was that they play at unplesantly loud volumes. I know... I sound old.

Members analogmike
they do play LOUD!!!!! I nearly lost my hearing when I walked by one of the stage monitors when I was helping out Marc Ford. Luther is awesome, he does have a KOT and loves running his Beano Boost through his Marshalls. Enjoy the shows!!

Enjoy the shows!! Yeah, Luthers' tone was amazing. much smoother and less buzzy than Rich's (I really didn't like the sound of his Zemaitis) - he sounded great regardless of the guitar he was using. Thanks also for the KOT you sent me last week - still getting to grips with it and my Hayseed 15. Any tips?
