Members ejk
Just curious, but how exactly does the Creamy Dreamer mod differ from pedal to pedal? I mean it can be done to the Russian Muff, USA Muff, hell just about any Muff for that matter. With the different tone stacks and whatnot involved with each pedal in stock form, shouldn't there be a difference in how the mod sounds depending on which stock Muff you used as a base for the mod? Members phishmarisol
From what I understand there is a substantial difference between the actual Creamy Dreamer pedal and what people call creamy dreamer muff mods. There are a lot of part changes that people don't do but they call it the creamy dreamer mod anyway. I decided that if I ever do want to try that sound I'll just buy a Sustain Punch and check out the real thing.
Members R Corso
I had a Sustain Punch Creamy Dreamer, and it was kinda OK.
Members Wyatt
Sustain Punch started by modding the Green Russian BMp's. To give a background, the Russian Green model was probably the closest thing anyone had made to the original triangle knob BMp model in many years, so the DIY'ers over at Ampage put their collective heads together and came up with a list of mods to bridge the gap. The founder of Sustain Punch (can't remember his name) merely took everyone else's ideas and started to market the modded Russian pedal as the Creamy Dreamer, eventually he hired a company to layout the circuit on a PCB and fabricate CD's from scratch. In short, all a CD was was a Green Russian BMp modded to close to triangle knob muff specs. There was nothing any more special than that. You need something in the same ballpark, go with BYOC. I wouldn't go with a NYC model because that's a little more of a fuzz (it was a pseudo-new design by the woman behind the Hepcat pedals) and a little less saturated distortion than a Triangle BMp, Green Russian BMp or CD.
