sellers decide the amount for which they'd be willing to part with an item and offer it at that price. if you don't like the price and the seller won't accept a lower offer, don't buy the item. it's not like anyone's forcing you to do anything.

Nothing is stopping us from passing judgement, though. Welcome to the internet!

you do realize its a buyer's market?

if everyone took your advice, no one would ever buy anything and they would have to lower their prices.

hmmm, interesting how that works...

"I'll trade you a tunamelt tremolo and $50 for a superfuzz!"

in all fairness, the tunamelt is a great pedal.

but a $20 pedal + $50 DOES NOT = superfuzz ($150 plus tax and shipping)

COME ON PEOPLE.

and that was a serious message someone sent me. i lol'd.

No, not un-American, but it would be clogging up the spam thread with OT stuff, and I have been discouraging that...

True. :) Of course, as echodeluxe pointed out, if the prices are set too high, and they're not willing to negotiate, then their items probably won't sell.

If you're a potential buyer and think something is overpriced, and you can't negotiate a mutually agreeable price, I suggest you move along and look elsewhere. If you're a seller and your item isn't selling after a couple of weeks, you might want to reconsider your terms.

Simple really. :) Neither side has to "do" anything - you can ask what you want, or refuse a deal if you want, or even laugh and think "they're out of their mind if they think they'll get $400 for a Tuna Melt". ;)

I fail to see any cause for drama here. :)

I am going to hit the rack (no, NOT that type of rack - the one you sleep on) for a few hours. Please try not to kill each other in the meantime.

I just figure that the SPAM thread works a bit like Craigslist - the prices begin high with the understanding that it will be negotiated down. Crxshdxmmy was irritated when I tried to trade my RV-3 for a Vexter Fuzz Factory saying that it was an unfair trade. Perhaps and perhaps not, but if someone wanted an RV-3, and didn't want their Vexter, they might PM me and ask to trade plus $15. I probably would have gone for it. Finding the match-up is one thing we can do on the SPAM thread that we can't do on eBay.

Selling {censored} has been really annoying lately. I put all my {censored} on the low side of their going rate on CL week after week, and the only bites I get are from scammers? eBay wants what amounts to about 10% of my selling price? No one on HC likes my cool stuff?

Sometimes I find it really hard to give other forumites a good deal when you know they'll try to make a couple bucks when they sell it in a month. I'll admit that I've done it once but not gennerally as a habit. I try to obtain gear that I plan on keeping.
