You Trip Me Up sound

Is there any pedal or combination of pedals that can get me and my guitar (jazzmaster) close to this sound?:

I'm mainly talking about the feedback barrage, as I can already approximate the thin fuzz tone with my pedals, but I can never get anything like that feedback. Is there any kind of pedal that can do that? Or do I have to just toss out everything and start from scratch with a hollowbody guitar, a broken shin ei fuzz wah, and lots of drugs, like they had?

I don't think the Shin-ei Fuzz Wah has to be broken! It kinda always sounds broken... :)

I had one for a while and it definitely can create that sound. It was perfect for mimicing William's sonic assault on "I Hate Rock & Roll."

That's really all the pedal was good for, so I got rid of it. Of course, watching that video makes me wish I kept it! Thanks a lot!

is spring reverb important for generating crazy feedback? I've never heard that. I've never really used spring reverb much, since I've always favored other kinds of reverb.

it's like strings for your amp. you can get the infinite whale song feedback quiet enough that the unamped sound off guitar is louder

Yeah, I love that sound in "I Hate Rock & Roll" too and have been obsessing over it as well, but in "You Trip Me Up" it's like he's doing it for the whole song.

So you got that squealing feedback out of a standard shin ei fuzz wah? Do you use a hollowbody? I'm really trying to figure out how to get it without buying a 4th guitar.

Sounds cool, but, I have no idea what that means. Could you explain further? It could be that it's just late in the day and my brain is tired.

it adds a resonance stage, like a gain stage except its resonance. gain + resonance = feedback! :)

Well, with the Shin-ei I had, if you engage the fuzz and depress the pedal all the way down it would just make a complete wall of loud angry white noise. It was awesome. I was using a Epi Sheraton (and a solid state amp actually), but it worked with solid bodies too.

It looked exactly like this one, but sounded much harsher (might just be the way he is playing; I might have been running mine along side my RAT pedal too).
