Another pedal he loves...........

The Venerable..... Jordan Boss Tone

He picked up in London.

*** Anyone know much on the History of Jordan / Boss Tone, I know a lot

of '60s players used them....Randy California on the Spirit Records for

one....sadly missed !!!

I have 3 very early prod 1st Version ones before they changed the circuit

in later Alhambra CA / Pasadena / Sho Bud ones.......Great little boxes.

I was watching some youtube videos of black keys.... its ok!

any particular reason for the no bass player choice?

They reasoned that there wasn't enough sonic room to have a bass player with their playing styles being such as they are.

I'll ask him tonight.

Can't vouch for this (yet):

Nice! One of my good friends went down there to catch the show. If you see a college student with long hair and a beard, go ahead and say hi. On second thought, that's going to be most of the people there. Never mind.

I really wanted to go but prior obligations prevented me

It'll probably be a great show. :thu:

because his tone is thick as hell and they really don't need one to pull off what they do. I love their sound.

oh pleeeeease....I really dont get these arguments, first one is ok but the thick as hell.... nothing cant be as thick as hell... and also its always putting the bass players to the ol stigma of keeping the beat with drums and not and after the next dispensable player, second to the conga guys:freak:!

I am not very keen on this ..............."trend"..... yep, that is what I said!!!!

If you listen to Dan's tone you can easily hear that it wouldn't cut through with a bass in live situations.

With that said there are songs with bass on the new album.

Also Dan uses a finger picking style that mimics having a bassline in the song.

I also sincerely doubt that the Black Keys consciously decided to not have a bass player based on some trend. They wouldn't be able make music as amazing as theirs if they were worried about that kind of stuff.

well if you agree with the first one then you must also with the second..."not enough sonic room applies to the heavy amount of fuzz and bass created by Dan's setup. Everyone has their own opinion though.
