Ryan from ToadWorks / Enveloope owners - got a couple of questions for you...

Recommended Posts

I was checking out the ToadWorks site, and came across the Enveloope page.

Woah - that looks like it could be VERY useful - not just for dynamic control of effects, but also for various studio applications.

Ryan, can it handle line level signals at +4 dBu or -10dBV? If not, I suppose there shouldn't be any reason I couldn't use a Radial X-Amp or similar reamp device to deal with the level issues...

Also, while looking for one on Ebay, I noticed some pedals seemed to have both the I/O and send / return jacks on the sides of the unit, while in other pictures the send / return jacks are located on the top. Can you please tell me which is the current production version? Are there any other differences between the two that I should be aware of?

This looks like a really interesting pedal, and I can think of a lot of possibilities... if anyone owns one, please let me know what you think, and how you're using it.

Thanks everyone!

i'm not sure what to make of it. all those thresholds and levels that need to be set just right.. i'm not convinced many guitarists care enough about something that requires too much thought.

i would love to hear it in action.. i just have trouble picturing (or imagi-hearing?!) what it'll actually do with certain fx..

edit: ahh.. scroll down a little - http://emusician.com/web_clips/web_clips_may_2006/

I can Has?

I am a notoriously cheap bastard, and I'm planning on getting one of those.

I'd like to see how well it would work with a Green Ringer in the loop...hopefully, the octo-fuzz could kick in on hard picking, while not gating me out on the softer side!

Otherwise, Whammy in the loop!

Sorry, really busy this week....

The short version is:

- It's designed for instrument level

- current production version is 'jacks on the side', like the image above - although the picture is wrong - the send jack is on the right... doh!

The new version:

- replaced the push-pull pots with regular pots & toggle switches

- increased the sensitivity ALOT (it's actually an easy mod to make the old version perform the same - it's just swapping out 2 resistors)
