It sounds much more... harmonic? I'd say... I don't know. It just sounds better than the other pedals I've ever owned. It doesn't get all fizzy when you get into higher gain territory. But therein lies the rub: not enough high gain. I was kind of expecting an OD and a distortion in a box, but I don't think that this does it. It's more OD/heavy OD ground. But the drive sounds good, I'll give you that. It's very sensitive to the volume knob (moreso than anything else I've ever played).

But yeah. The drive is the fullest sounding drive I've ever heard from a pedal, free of fizz completely (never been able to say that).

But, here are the cons out of the box:

1) Not enough gain. I want some RAT-style distortion. Maybe I'll just buy a RAT then.

2) It's going to take a lot of tweaking. This is not a take it out of the box and jam pedal. There are a bunch of knobs, the gain channels are completely different (although this isn't bad), and you're actually going to have to open the box to tweak it. So I'll do my thing and report back with a full review with good settings later.

Sorry for the {censored}ty sentences up there. Incoherent thoughts and a long day at school and work. It sounds weird going into my PF. Like. Really weird.

Tell you what guys, this weekend, I'm gonna try to borrow a video camera and try to do every pedal and every pedal and every pedal combination I can think up in my toolbox.

Pbone, can you do me a favor and get a Lovekraft Chupacabra or it's brother the Mojo Drive and tell me how it is? Thanks haha

I suggest looking at those, the Chupacabra is like a rat, while the Mojo Drive is similar to an OCD.

From what I've heard this is the general consensus. However, the consensus is also that the tones - for about any rig - are in there; they just need to be found.

I've looked at these in longing a lot. No more dirt pedals though. I've got the amp to give me all I need.

Yep. They even include some mods that you can do in the manual. There's kind of a lot going on in this pedal.

That's the usual for a new Blackstone. The trim-pots inside that control the gain are usually set at about halfway from the factory. The Blackstone actually gets a very decent amount of distortion.

You're right, they do take a little bit to dial in. But in my opinion they make the best sound in the world when they are :thu:

Sweet pic, by the way!

ugh I got offered this pedal and turned it down because I don't have money whyyyyy

:idk:

Stacked with the PF, it does like a pseudo-big muff sound, but with way more sustain, less noise, no scoop, and plenty of rock.

I've always thought that it was a very sexy-looking pedal. Nice pr0n.

It's a cool design, inside and out...I traded mine to Rinkrat and he sold it a day later. It takes more time, IMO. It's very much like a non-master volume Marshall sound, I think sometimes people expect JCM800.

So played around with it more. The red channel is an AWESOME low gain channel and is very volume-responsive. I think it actually sounds better than the Screwdriver. Pretty DCFC-like low gain. It's great.

I got the Brown channel up to high gain settings. It's nice and does distortion very well, but I probably won't be using it all the way up. Still need to add some more treble to it.

So far, it's a definite keeper.

you have piqued my interest.

It sounds just so full.... I love it. You know on "Transatlanticism" (the song), that overdriven Dsus about 2:00 in? Imagine that. With a little bit of knob twisting on my compressor in front of it, I nail that tone to a t.

Yeah, I can't wait to crack it open again today and start noodling around with the internal knobs and such. Yay! Thanks Jake, you definitely influenced my buy on this one.

Ha ha, no problem. It's such a good pedal and no one's ever heard of it. It's really a shame so I'm trying to change it.

I'm really glad you like it! :thu:
