Any other bands like Aereogramme, Oceansize and Dredg

Hi,

I'm bored at work and I figured I would pester the Effects forum for some recommendations.

Aereogramme is one of my favorite bands and I'm now just getting into Oceansize so is there anything in the same vein? I'm imagining that there are probably some other atmospheric rock bands from the UK that I don't know about. I listed Dredg too because I like their songwriting and textures but I'm not too into the post-hardcore scene like TMV or Circa Survive that they happened to be attached to.

Any ideas?

I love dredg and dig oceansize, I'll have to check out aereogramme.

Just because dredg played with circa doesn't make them post-hardcore.... I think of them more as art-rock.

probably isn't exactly what you are looking for but:

Autolux

Band of Horses

Wintersleep

I don't think they're post-hardcore at all (maybe some parts of leitmotif) but whenever dredg is mentioned so is tmv, circa etc...

I'll check out your recommendations.

Wintersleep is one of my favourite bands. Definitely check them out. The tune Weighty Ghost will probably play first (which is still a good tune), but not really reflective of most of their stuff. Check some of the other tunes like Archaeologists or Search Party.

yea i don't even listen to that song because it's so poppy, some of the others ones are great though

On a nice sunny day, like today, it's a great tune to throw on. I think it really shows their diversity, and that underneath all their badass jams are these really great melodies/pop songs. Have you seen them live?

No, I haven't yet but I probably would if I got the chance.

You may enjoy:

The Dear Hunter

Sylvie (saw them open for Minus the Bear...catchy music...cute bassist!)

I agree with the dear hunter but i didn't really think of them when I heard atmospheric rock. Definitely a good band to check out though, its like a bunch of different music mashed together into something coherent.

It ruined my year to see that Aereogramme were calling it quits - Saw them maybe 5 years ago in a tiny space with 18 other people (including the staff) - I've written this before, but Aereogramme played like they were standing in front of 30,000.

For that alone, they have been one of my favorite bands - They could have been playing Rick Astley covers that night and they still would've been amazing.

As for similar bands? Are there any? Pelican, ISIS and the like follow a similar vein, but lack the SONGS. Aereogramme had the songs.

At least you got to see them. I was actually on a plane out to the Coachella music festival during their last gig in Boston. Oh how I was pissed.

I can't believe somebody actually posted Circa Survive. God damn, I regret including Dredg now.

Check out
Amplifier
- Great band and also friends of Oceansize. I used to go and see both a lot years back before they were signed. Both amazing bands live.

A very big +1 on Amplifier!

These guys are absolutely amazing, and they have both the textures and the songs! And they are incredibly good live.. (Me seems to like them.. )

Maybe the best, most emotional show I have ever seen.

I think that there was a dog walking around the club that night, too. 19.

I still have the t-shirt - -- --
